new york blood center transfusion medicine fellowship program» Experience at one of the largest nonprofit, community-based blood centers in the nation» Clinical rotations at New York academic medical centers» Serving the diverse patient population in the New York metropolitan area The Transfusion Medicine Fellowship Program at New York Blood Center (NYBC) is in collaboration with New York Presbyterian-Columbia Medical Center, New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, and Westchester Medical Center. Over the past 35 years, the Transfusion Medicine Fellowship Program has trained more than 100 physicians as specialists in transfusion medicine. The one-year program is ACGME-accredited and designed to meet the needs of physicians who are interested in acquiring the competences necessary for American Board of Pathology sub-specialty certification in Transfusion Medicine and subsequent practice. The fellows rotate at NYBC for six months and at one of the participating major medical centers for six months. A two-year research or clinical track fellowship is offered for qualified individuals interested in pursuing an academic career in transfusion medicine as a joint venture with the Department of Pathology at New York-Presbyterian-Columbia University Medical Center. As NYBC employees, fellows are entitled to a full benefits package, including professional liability insurance and expenses paid to attend a relevant national conference.
