Preface The Brazilian Symposium on Information Systems (SBSI) provides a meeting point for researchers, practitioners and students in the area of Information Systems (IS). The main objective of the symposium is to share scientific knowledge and interests and to establish strong professional and academic ties among the participants. The objective is to promote discussions on the Information Systems (IS) area considering its whole multidisciplinary approach and applications in the main different knowledge areas, welcoming a wide range of topics related to IS. This is the 11th edition of the Brazilian Symposium on Information Systems SBSI 2015. The symposium theme typically changes from year to year. In 2015, the symposium theme is: Information Systems: a computer socio-technical perspective. In special, this edition focuses on the advances of the IS community aimed at integrating the diverse computer techniques and technologies to the way the society lives, works and communicates. This sociotechnical approach is a broader view of IS, involving not only technology and organizations, but also people and society as a whole. This research field has the potential to develop and improve the services of a country or region, through the conception of socio-technical systems (such as health systems, security systems, education systems, and energy and transportation systems, among others). The SBSI is a traditional and important scientific meeting of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC), and it is growing in importance. It started in 2004, and in the first three years (from 2004 to 2006), the SBSI was held in different states of the south of the country. Then, in 2008, it was located at the southeast and after that each year it has been held in a different region in Brazil. In 2015 we searched for improving the SBSI s international visibility, then SBSI 2015 is in cooperation with ACM SIGAPP and SIGMIS, and it is also an AIS affiliated conference. The Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) is a scientific association, without profit organization, that brings together researchers, teachers, students and professionals engaged in scientific research, education and technological development in the general area of computing. More information on http://www.sbc.org.br. The SBC Special Committees (ECs) gather associated members with common interests in a particular subfield of Computing. Each Special Committee also organizes their respective symposium and regularly holds its general assembly. The Special Committee on Information Systems (CESI) is the commission responsible for representing the Information Systems community in the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC). The Brazilian Symposium on Information Systems (SBSI) is the main national event of CESI. ACM stands for Association for Computing Machinery, the world s largest educational and scientific computing society, which delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. ACM provides the computing field s premier Digital Library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources. The SBSI 2015 proceedings are going to be available at ACM Digital Library. xi
The SBSI 2015 was approved for in-cooperation with two ACM s Special Interest Groups: SIGAPP and SIGMIS. The SIGAPP - ACM Special Interest Group on Applied Computing - is the ACM s primary applications-oriented SIG. It offers practitioners and researchers the opportunity to share mutual interests in innovative applications, technology transfer, experimental computing, strategic research, and the management of computing. This SIG also promotes widespread cooperation among business, government, and academic computing programs. More information on http://www.sigapp.org. The SIGMIS - ACM Special Interest Group on Management Information Systems promotes best-practice and research in the management of information systems and technologies and the use of these systems and technologies. SIGMIS is a sponsor of several conferences on information systems and technology. As one of the oldest of ACM s SIGS, SIGMIS traces its beginnings back to 1961, and for decades has been instrumental in defining and developing the field of management and information systems. More information on http://sigmis.org. The Association for Information Systems (AIS) serves society through the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of excellence in the practice and study of information systems. AIS is the premier professional association for individuals and organizations who lead the research, teaching, practice, and study of information systems worldwide. More information on http://aisnet.org. SBSI 2015 was held in Goiânia, from May 26 to 29th, 2015. It was organized by the Institute of Informatics of the Federal University of Goiás. The SBSI 2015 schedule included many activities with high technical-scientific level, covering different aspects, including: Technical sessions for the presentation of selected scientific articles; Invited talks, with national and international experts; Panel with representatives of academia, industry and government; Workshop of Theses and Dissertations in Information Systems (WTDSI); Workshop on Undergraduate Research in Information Systems (WICSI); Selected short courses. The technical sessions were organized in different tracks: MAIN TRACK Chairs: Prof. Sean W. M. Siqueira (UNIRIO) and Prof. Sérgio T. Carvalho (UFG) TRACK 1 - Experience Reports in Industry and Case Studies Chairs: Prof. Claudia Cappelli (UNIRIO) and Prof. Arnaldo Alves Ferreira Junior (UFG) TRACK 2 - IS Applications and Tools Chairs: Prof. Sean Siqueira (UNIRIO) and Prof. Marcel Ferrante Silva (UFG) TRACK 3 - Information Systems Education Chairs: Prof. Fátima de Lourdes dos Santos Nunes Marques (USP) and Prof. Eliany Alvarenga de Araújo (UFG) xii
TRACK 4 - Government Information Systems Chairs: Prof. Claudia Cappelli (UNIRIO), Prof. Renata Araujo (UNIRIO) and Prof. Dalton Lopes Martins (UFG) TRACK 5 - Business Process Management Chairs: Prof. Flávia Maria Santoro (UNIRIO), Prof. Fernanda Baião (UNIRIO) and Prof. Juliano Lopes de Oliveira (UFG) The Proceedings of the SBSI 2015 have excellent papers that discuss and develop innovative themes exploring knowledge of various areas related to Information Systems. There were 313 submissions of regular papers written in English and Portuguese (main track: 168 papers; track 1: 36 papers; track 2: 42 papers; track 3: 16 papers; track 4: 25 papers; and track 5: 26 papers), of which 302 were validated (main track: 166 papers; track 1: 32 papers; track 2: 40 papers; track 3: 15 papers; track 4: 24 papers; and track 5: 25 papers). From this total, 101 papers were accepted (91 full papers and 10 short papers) (main track: 50 papers; track 1: 12 papers; track 2: 12 papers; track 3: 7 papers; track 4: 13 papers; and track 5: 7 papers), which represents 33,44% of acceptance rate. Full papers contain between 8 (eight) and 10 (ten) pages, while short papers contain from four (4) and five (5) pages. We appreciate the excellent cooperation of the track chairs of the SBSI 2015 that with their commitment and dedication allowed the organization of this symposium. Along with the track chairs, we thank the members of the Program Committee and the additional reviewers, which allowed a rigorous evaluation process, in which all the submitted papers were evaluated by researchers with recognized experience in the field. In addition, all revisions were analyzed by the chairs to the final decision. We also thank the members of the Special Committee on Information Systems (CESI), also the SBSI 2015 Steering Committee that much contributed to every stage of symposium organization: Célia Ralha (UnB) coordinator, José Maria David (UFJF) vice-coordinator, Rita Suzana (UFBA), Adriana Clericuzi (UFPB), Renata Araujo (UNIRIO), Fernanda Baião (UNIRIO) and Bruno Zarpelão (UEL). This symposium would not have been possible without the efforts of several people involved in its organization. Thus, we thank all the organizing committee of the SBSI 2015, including the wonderful staff of the UFG, and to all the people who contributed to the success of this event. Special thanks to all the authors for choosing our symposium as a forum for submission and publication of their work. We also thank everyone who supported us in coordinating the sessions and all participants and sponsors who promote this community. Goiânia, May 2015. Sean W. M. Siqueira (UNIRIO) and Sérgio T. Carvalho (UFG) Chairs of the SBSI 2015 Program Committee xiii
