How Can You Take Advantage of IxVoice? Network Equipment Manufacturers use IxVoice to verify functionality, interoperability, and performance of both traditional TDM-based, circuit switched devices, as well as next generation IP based voice products. This includes VoIP and VoIP related protocols. Transmission quality, Quality of Voice, and Quality of Fax may be determined on individual network components, as well as complex systems containing hundreds of VoIP and TDM-based end-devices. Interoperability of various vendors products across an entire system is also possible. Network Service Providers, IP Service Providers, and Cable Companies use IxVoice to generate and analyze traffic across complex network environments to qualify network designs and solve interoperability issues between various vendors products. In this way, the functionality and performance issues may be isolated and corrected before actual deployment. Telephony Equipment Manufacturers use IxVoice to not only test traditional PBX and TDM-based telecom equipment and systems, but also the migration of these technologies to IP based networks. IxVoice offers users the flexibility to test analog, TDM and IP capabilities to meet the stringent performance and functional criteria demanded of next generation converged networks. QA Engineers use IxVoice to validate new designs and features. A repeatable test procedure can be executed to identify discrepancies between releases to maintain performance and functional consistency. IxVoice can be used for automated regression testing guaranteeing predictable results. IxVoice can help save both time and money through increased productivity of QA engineers, reduced test setup time, as well as quality and performance improvements. Proof of Concept Test Labs use IxVoice to demonstrate that a complex System Under Test (SUT) is capable of reaching certain performance, functional, and interoperability criteria. IxVoice s unique drag and drop architecture allows test lab engineers to quickly and easily configure call parameters to meet even the most complex test scenarios. IxV

Service providers must maintain the same overall reliability of their current telephony systems, and must ensure that voice quality will not be adversely impacted by a VoIP implementation. The current class of features that customers have come to expect from traditional networks, as well as additional new features made possible by IP network deployments, requires thorough testing and verification. Next-Generation networks must be able to address not only the wide range of digital and analog telephony services, but especially VoIP and its related signaling protocols, such as SIP, H.323, MGCP/COPS, H.248/MEGACO, SCCP and related RTP/ RTCP, and T.38 fax media streaming protocols. Network and telephony equipment manufacturers must validate the conformance, functionality, and performance of IP and telephony devices that are the essential elements of converged IP voice and data networks. Devices such as access gateways, PBXs, IP phones, TDM end-devices, routers, soft-switches, and network edge devices must be tested both as individual network components, as well as vital elements within interconnected, integrated systems. Additionally, network devices from various vendors must be tested for interoperability to ensure that the network functions seamlessly while maintaining the level of service that end users have come to expect from traditional utility grade services. IxVoice is a proven, comprehensive test platform that provides unified VoIP and PSTN test solutions for Telephony Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs), Network Equipment Manufacturers (NEMs), carriers, and enterprise markets. The IxVoice platform is ideally suited for conformance validation of key protocols, including SIP, H.323, MGCP/COPS, H.248/MEGACO. IxVoice s flexible test libraries make it easy to modify protocol attributes with valid or invalid values to create positive and negative tests. Who is Ixia? Ixia is a leading, global provider of high performance IP network testing solutions that measure the performance, functionality, and conformance of complex IP networks, devices, and applications running on the network. These highly scalable test solutions generate, capture, characterize, automate, and emulate network and application traffic. With Ixia s wide range of testing products, you can realistically test your networks, devices, and applications before deployment, significantly increasing your competitive edge.

IxVoice can load a Device Under Test (DUT) or System Under Test (SUT) using standard test templates or can be used to create customized tests to access and modify low-level protocol messages. G.729A, G.729B), plays back captured wave files, displays and decodes RTCP events, and generates packet metrics of RTP packets. IxVoice s graphical user interface allows users to quickly create call scenarios to test feature functionality and interoperability across VoIP and PSTN end-devices. Using IxVoice, users can quickly automate devices and network testing using a multiinterface, multi-technology approach, while measuring and analyzing Quality of Voice (QoV) and Quality of Fax (QoF). IxVoice tests are reusable, enabling engineering, QA, and system test groups to share testing configurations without modifications throughout all stages of the product development cycle. IxVoice s extensive protocol support can test a wide spectrum of telephony elements and mixed-protocol networks, from PTSN and VoIP to Voice over Cable. Extensive Analysis Tools IxVoice includes integrated debug tools for T1 CAS, ISDN, T.3, T.38, and VoIP protocols. The T.38 Analyzer is a proprietary application for fax testing over IP that decodes network packets and provides detailed inspection of T.38 packet structures and corresponding T.3 signals. This enables users to quickly detect specific problems within T.38 devices, as well as locate and isolate protocol-specific errors in fax traffic. IxVoice s Network Traffic Analyzer captures and decodes network traffic and can be customized to capture selected portions of network traffic. In addition, IxVoice s Real Time Protocol (RTP) viewer reconstructs wave files from RTP packets (G.711, G.723, G.726, Detailed Test Results The IxVoice Results Manager helps users visualize and analyze test results directly from the program s GUI. The Results Manager can be connected to different IxVoice databases that are distributed across the entire LAN. With a single mouse click, users can easily see the details of each execution session, without writing complex query commands. Using a layered approach, the Results Manager application automatically generates reports for each test execution, channel, and individual test. Color-coded call diagrams highlight errors that can be expanded to display detailed debug information. Users can then easily debug tests, localize errors, and analyze results with customizable PASSED/ FAILED criteria.

Quickly Configure Complex Telephony Test Scenarios Test Automation Simplified The IxVoice Task Scheduler is a robust testing framework that automates test execution and results reporting. Single or multiple tests are defined as tasks that are executed according to a user-specified schedule. One or more tasks can be scheduled for automatic execution on a specific date and time, on a periodic basis, or on completion of another task. In addition, each task contains its own custom execution settings and reporting. Tasks can be defined to launch external applications before and after each test execution, which is extremely useful for regression testing. Tcl and remote access via Telnet is available for users who wish to integrate IxVoice within their existing test framework. Test execution configurations can be modified and run remotely to provide an endless number of test combinations. Detailed results are also available remotely. Key Features IxVoice offers an extremely broad range of features that enable users to quickly and efficiently configure and test VoIP and PSTN devices and networks, reducing time-to-market and ensuring seamless deployment: Create and edit tests using a Graphical User Interface, eliminating the need for programming scripts Analyze results with user-defined PASSED/FAILED criteria Generate real-world, correlated calls over IP and PSTN Initiate and terminate calls on IP and TDM interfaces Support a wide range of streaming media types - PSTN: tones, voice, fax, data - VoIP: tones, voice, fax Support any combination of media types on the same call Emulate SIP, H.323, MGCP/COPS, H.248/MEGACO, SCCP and related RTP/RTCP, and T.38 fax media streaming protocols Measure and analyze the Quality of Voice (QoV) with PESQ/PAMS/PSQM+, and Quality of Fax (QoF) with ITU E.4-48

IxVoice Performs unified VoIP and PSTN testing on telecom and network equipment. Addresses all major VoIP protocols: SIP, SCCP, H.323, T.38, MGCP, as well as TDM and analog telephony services. Functional, load, and interoperability issues are easily determined using a drag and drop architecture for instant creation of test scenarios with pre-defined visual blocks. Automates testing of networks and devices using a multi-interface, multi-technology approach, while measuring and analyzing Quality of Voice and Quality of Fax.
