2013 NCF Scholarship Application Scholarships offered by the Nebraska Cattlemen Research and Education Foundation BASIS FOR SELECTION OF SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS 1. Must be a high school senior or college student. 2. Must have a "C" or higher grade point average. 3. Must be enrolled or intending to enroll full time in any college or university that offers a bachelor degree; an approved vocation or trade school; or a state accredited junior college. Preference will be given to students attending a Nebraska institute of higher learning and preference will be given to students majoring in an agricultural field of study. 4. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of 1) academic achievement, 2) beef industry involvement, and 3) goals and quality of application. AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP AND DONOR 1. The amount of each scholarship shall be at least $1,000. 2. The scholarships are awarded for one year. Payment will be made to the college or university upon proof of enrollment for the 2014 spring semester. (Speak to your college business office about providing proof of registration.) 3. NC Scholarships are provided through contributions received by the Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation. PROCEDURES FOR APPLYING 1. Applications can be obtained by calling Lee Weide at the NC Lincoln office at (402) 475-2333 or Jana Jensen at (308)588-6299. 2. Three references must be included with each application. One letter must be from an academic reference (i.e., school counselor, principal, teacher, advisor) and that person must address only your academics. One letter must be from an industry involvement reference (i.e., veterinarian, Extension educator, 4-H or FFA leader, breed association leader, banker, Livestock nutritionist) and that person must address only your industry involvement/experience. One letter must be from character reference (i.e., religious, public official, volunteer program leader) and that person must address only your citizenship. These references must not be relatives. The letters must be included with the application. 3. Applications are due March 1, 2013. The application, current transcript, and all three reference letters must be postmarked by March 1, 2013. A color or black and white photograph of the applicant, identified on the back, would be appreciated but is not a requirement for this scholarship. 4.
