Follett Software Company Circulation/Catalog Plus for Windows School libraries can access the number of books in their collection (excluding bound volumes of periodicals & textbooks) by running a Collection Statistics Report. NOTE: The procedure for creating a report that shows the number of books in your library s collection but excludes bound volumes of periodicals and textbooks depends on how you have cataloged these materials. If the bound periodicals and textbooks in your collection have been cataloged with a special call number, follow the first set of instructions below. If these materials have been cataloged without a special call number, follow the second set of instructions. To access the total number of books excluding bound volumes of periodicals and textbooks catalogued with a special call number: 1. Select Reports from the Follett Applications menu in Desktop or Programs. 2. Enter the password, if prompted. The default password for Reports is printit ; if the 800-3. Select the Circulation tab, and then select Collection Statistics. 4. Accept the default settings and select the Print Preview button. The report may take 5. The actual number of copies in your collection appears at the bottom of the report in the fourth column from the left. If any bound periodicals or textbooks appear on the list, as indicated by a special call number, subtract the totals for those ranges from the database total at the bottom of the screen. from the Collection Statistics total to get the actual number of book copies in your library excluding bound periodicals and textbooks. School libraries can access the number of periodical subscriptions by following these steps: Periodical subscriptions are considered a Title record. To get the number of periodical subscriptions, you must count the number of titles. You need a single copy category just for periodicals, and you must assign this category to at least one copy of each periodical you wish to include in your official total. 1. Select System Setup from the Follett Applications menu in Desktop or Programs. 2. Enter the password, if prompted. The default password for System Setup is dropdown menu and enter the same password you use for Cataloging, if prompted. School libraries can determine the average copyright year for Dewey range 610 619, health and medicine, by following these steps: Circulation/Catalog Plus for Windows does not have an existing report for determining the average age of materials by Copyright Date. It tracks only Publication Date, which does not always coincide with the Copyright Date. It is possible to create a custom report showing the average Publication Date for Dewey range 610 619, health and medicine, by using the Data Extract feature in Reports.
