Customer workflow similarities between Productstream Professional Easy and Vault Workgroup Vault Workgroup includes workgroup data management capabilities similar to those in Productstream Professional Easy, including: Basic file management: Users have the ability to manage Autodesk files and non-autodesk files. Understand impact of changes with where used analysis: Understand the impact of a design change on multiple projects before you make it. Track relationships between design files and view where specific files are used in each project. Basic visualization: Access a graphical preview of CAD data stored in the database, without having to first retrieve the data into the CAD application. This feature also offers measurement, annotation, and markup capabilities. Improved data organization with property management: Control property indexing and access across file types. Specify which rich attribute, text, and property data embedded in design files is captured and exposed for queries, filtering, and data organization. Improve data sharing and quick and accurate searching based on property sets. Find and reuse: Search and retrieve past designs and components quickly and easily enough to cut out wasteful remodeling and remanufacturing. Vault querying tools enable users to easily search the Vault database to find designs and reuse them. Productivity tools like copy design: Save hours of design time stop manually recreating or duplicating complex models and drawing sets. Using Autodesk data management software, you can copy a digital prototype including all related files and documentation for use in a new design. It s easy to configure the files you want to replace, reuse, or copy. Basic lifecycle management and access control: Ensure models and drawings are not prematurely released or accidentally accessed by purchasing, scheduling, manufacturing, or others outside the engineering group departments. Using Vault predefined release process and access control avoids the cost, time, and rework penalties incurred when the wrong version of a design is accessed by purchasing, manufacturing, or others. The process defines and controls the maturity of a design. Revision control: Use revision control to have an audit trail of what went on in a design s history not only for internal use but also for compliance with even the most stringent external requirements. User and groups management: Provide multiple levels of access control: application-level access control is provided through username and password logon. Domain-based access control is provided for objects using users, pre-defined groups, and roles. Graphically report and analyze your design data: Vault Workgroup includes a dashboard-style reporting tool, offering immediate feedback on project status for improved workgroup communication. Data Standard: Data Standard is a data control feature for the Vault Client and Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk AutoCAD software that helps you enter data for new or existing files in a standardized format. With Data Standard, administrators can design a save dialog that addresses the company's requirements for file data. Automate time-intensive tasks using the Vault Job Processor: Administrators can help their workgroups gain performance improvements. The Vault Job Processor helps maximize design time by offloading automated tasks. Custom job types can be created using the job handler and the job processor for example, creating and managing neutral formats during the document release process.

Customer advantages with Vault Workgroup for Productstream Professional Easy users Vault Workgroup delivers many new capabilities that are not available in Productstream Professional Easy, including support of versioning and vaulting data, tighter integration with Autodesk CAD applications, improved visualization, expanded lifecycle management, enhanced document management, improved support for non-engineering users, enhanced reporting, and backup and restore capabilities. More detailed information on these new capabilities is provided below. 1. Teamwork and collaborative design 2. CAD versioning and vaulting 3. Tighter Autodesk CAD integrations 4. Enhanced document management 5. Access control 6. Secure file storage 7. Simple administration and configuration 8. Software extensibility Teamwork and collaborative design Get engineers working more effectively in teams to speed up design, take on more complex work, and make more efficient and flexible use of engineering teams: Concurrent design with multiuser environment support and local workspace: Team members can work on a digital prototype without overwriting each other s data, thanks to multiuser functionality. Team members check out a design before making modifications, and then check it back in when they re done. The managed, local workspace is aware of designs being used by other engineers, and that provides users with tools to update their CAD session with new versions of designs. With everyone working together, you can better balance resources, speed projects to completion, and meet tight deadlines. Workspace synchronization: With Vault, all the data are checked out from the server to the desktop that you re going to work on. But what if you ve created a new project and you ve never checked these files into the Vault? Workspace Sync not only identifies all the files that have been changed and should be put away, but it will also find all the orphan files that Vault doesn t know what to do with, and that need to be reviewed. Offline work: Vault enables Autodesk CAD users to work offline when the Vault server is unavailable. More specifically, users can continue working in CAD applications and accessing their Vault workspaces even if the network connection to the server is interrupted. When the server becomes available, a user can choose to work online and work can be checked in back to the Vault server upon reconnection. This powerful capability improves the productivity of Productstream Professional Easy users who are either connecting over unreliable wide area networks (WANs), or who prefer to periodically access the Vault server over a WAN or corporate VPN. CAD versioning and vaulting Managing and storing file version history provides users with simple ways to create new design concepts and easily reverting to previous designs: Capture the history of the design concepts: Iterate new ideas or revert to old ones, and arrive at the final digital prototype in record time without the overhead and errors. Create labels or snapshots that enable you to capture reference and restore concepts easily.

Revert back to previous concepts: Using capabilities like Get Previous Version helps users get back to previous concepts without lost data that accompanies manual backup and copy methods. Tighter CAD integration With Vault Workgroup users can perform all of their data management commands from within the CAD user interface. Common data management functions, such as finding, downloading, and updating models, are fully integrated with the most common CAD application in a way that makes Vault almost transparent to the Autodesk CAD user. Other features, such as data card and data mapping, create an environment that provides the CAD user with innovative, new technology to evaluate and interact with their managed design data. This tighter integration with Autodesk CAD applications simplifies many data management tasks and, in many cases, streamlines operations. In fact, for common tasks such as open, place, search, and change state, it reduces the total number of mouse clicks versus previous generations of Productstream Professional Easy. Data Cards: Directly review vault status and property information within the Inventor graphics window with the new Data Cards feature in Autodesk Vault Workgroup, Vault Collaboration, and Vault Professional. Examine details about individual or multiple files within a single interface, and modify property values as needed without having to use the Vault stand-alone client. Users can be confident that both their vaulted property values and iproperties values will be synchronized. The configurable data card interface provides companies with the ability to standardize on property sets, and administrators can enforce the population of critical data fields utilizing property policies directly within Inventor and facilitating data population by users in compliance with demanding regulations. Data mapping: Data mapping offers an interactive interface that enables users to generate report data for a model and publish the results as a chart within Inventor. Users can then color code the model to see a direct correlation between the report results and the design. Since designers, engineers, and managers can visualize reported data directly within a model, they are able to more easily make informed decisions. Data mapping may be used to highlight such information as parts pending change, make versus buy designation, current project or design status, compliance status, component cost range, weight range, design lifecycle, and more. Data mapping also features report publishing, which enables users to share analysis results with other workgroup members. When a command is invoked, the analytical engine utilizes the report templates introduced with the 2010 Vault product family release, enabling users to further extend the investment made in reporting with the Vault family of products. Finally, data mapping also provides a method for designers and engineers to intelligently select data from analytical data. With data mapping applied to a model, a subsection of the report results can be easily selected for interaction with Inventor software or added to an existing selection set. For example, data awaiting approval may be easily selected based on lifecycle state, streamlining the process for the user to approve the design. Enhanced document management Vault Workgroup assists you in meeting your company standardization goals. Use property policies and automate file naming, data categories, and behaviors. Intelligent maintenance tools like rename and move file : Edit and manipulate design files without breaking important application-specific links, such as AutoCAD xrefs or Autodesk Inventor file relationships. By maintaining design integrity, you save hours of manual cleanup work. Categories: The use of categories enbles finer control over properties, revisions, and lifecycle schemes, permitting document classification and standard behaviors for a series of files. When a file is assigned to a category, it inherits the default behaviors assigned by that category. Utilities to batch plot design data: A set of design files are usually plotted or printed for manufacturing purposes, typically more than once throughout the design s life. Getting the correct set of files pulled together can be a daunting,

and often error-prone, task. The Vault Batch Print/Plot Manager helps you create, manage, and reuse print or plot jobs for all managed files with full support for watermarking and stamping, reducing the time spent on administrative tasks. Both Productstream Professional Easy and Vault Workgroup provide multiple levels of access control. Application-level access control is provided through username and password logon. Domain-based access control is provided for objects using users, pre-defined groups, and roles. Project/folder security: In addition to the three levels of access control, Vault Workgroup adds support for folder/project-based access control. Folder/project access control can be used to override domain-based access control in order to grant additional permissions to individual folder or projects. This can cover, for example, the common use case that the engineering department is broken down into teams. Each group has to know what the others are doing and must have access to their parts, but must not be able to change their parts. Lifecycle security: Finally, maturity-based access control is provided based on object lifecycle state or release level. Easy administration and configuration Autodesk Vault Workgroup provides tools to manage your Vault server, to help you experience maximum uptime. Intuitive administrative tools make server management easier even for those with minimal IT knowledge. Secure file storage Increased reliance on digital copies of CAD documents and important business files means the value of those items can t be measured in terms of dollars and cents, so it s extremely important to keep that information safe and secure. The Vault secure file storage solution keeps the digital documents you deem sensitive on a secure server. Software extensibility Included in the installation of Autodesk Vault Workgroup software is the Autodesk Vault Client Software Development Kit (SDK). This kit enables the creation and integration of custom features and user interface elements, enabling administrators to extend the Vault interface to support unique business demands. Utilizing the client SDK, administrators may now alter the Vault client interface within the Autodesk Vault Workgroup interfaces. Hide/replace commands: For starters, existing commands may be hidden or replaced with custom commands, giving administrators the ability to limit what functions users have access to, and streamlining their workflows. Custom commands: Administrators can also add custom commands to existing menus, enabling new custom features to be added to the product interface in order to match unique company business processes and needs. Custom tabs: Administrators can further enhance the Vault client interface by adding custom tabs to the details pane for files, items, and change order environments. These new tabs can be customized to include unique property data grids and custom action buttons, as well as pull and expose data from external sources, further unifying the Vault client interface with other business software applications.
