1. JLU at a Glance Founded in 1946, merged with the former Jilin University of Technology, the former Bethune Medical University, the former Changchun University of Science and Technology and the former Changchun College of Posts and Communications in 2000, and with the former University of Military Logistics in 2004; Offering disciplines covering all the 13 categories, including philosophy, economics, law, literature, education, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, military science and arts. Jilin University has 124 under graduate, 311 master s, 240 doctoral and 37 post-doc programs; Highest enrollment in China, with 46 colleges/schools nested on 8 campuses; faculty totaling 6,540 with 1,638 full professors; 68,132 full-time students including 25,095 in master s and doctoral program, and 41,381 in undergraduate programs. Preferential Policies and Services for International Students Jilin University offers different kinds of Chinese language courses, including Beginning/Intermediate/Advanced Oral Chinese, Listening, Reading, Writing, Chinese News, Business Chinese, Medical Chinese, Technology Chinese and so on. Meanwhile, University offers HSK Tutorial Class, Chinese Culture, Chinese History and Chinese General Survey and so on. University helps outstanding graduate student apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship and Distinguished Self-fund International Students Scholarship. Staff at the Office of International Students are fluent in English, Korean, Russian, and Japanese. Well-furnished dormitories are dedicated to international students, with cafeteria/kitchen, reading rooms, fitness room, etc are provided. Self-fund international students will receive free group-insurance paid by JLU to the China Ping-An Insurance Company to cover the expenses of medical treatment due to disease or accidental injuries and relevant compensation. Highest coverage will reach CNY 510,000Yuan. To be eligible for this benefit, the duration of study must be at least one semester. 3. Duration of Programs Undergraduate: Liberal arts, Engineering and Science programs: 4 years; Medical programs: 5 years (medical programs in English: 6 years) 2

Individual applications are not accepted. 4. Application Requirements and Materials to be Submitted 1. Applicants must be Non-Chinese nationals, holding valid passport and in good health; 2. The completed Jilin University Application Form for International Student This form could be obtained from the JLU s Office of International Students or downloaded from the website www.oic.jlu.edu.cn; 3. Copy of passport (Photo page); 4. Certificate of HSK Examination Level 5 for Undergraduate applicants major in Science and Engineering programs, Level 6 for Undergraduate applicants major in Literature and Art programs; Level 6 for Master s and Doctoral Degree applicants. Programs in English or Korean do not require any HSK certificate; 5. Requirements for Education Background and Age: 1 Undergraduate applicants: must have graduated from high school; age between 18 to 30; 2 Master s degree program applicants: must have a bachelor s degree; age below 40; Certificate of bachelor degree, copies of transcripts and two recommendation letters issued by Associate Professors (or above) are required; 3 Doctoral degree program applicants: must have a master s degree; age below 50; Certificate of Master degree, copies of transcripts and two recommendation letters issued by Associate Professors (or above) are required; 4 Chinese language student: must have graduated from high school; age between 18 to 60; 5 Junior visiting scholar: must have at least 2 years of college education; age below 50; Certificate of studying or graduate from college is required; 6 Senior visiting scholar: must have education higher than master s degree; age below 55; Certificate of Master's degree or above is required. 5. Application Time Degree pursuing applicants are supposed to submit application materials to the Office of International Students by June 30 (study starts from September the same year); Chinese language applicants are supposed to submit application materials by December 30 (study starts from March the next year) or by June 30 (study starts from September the same year). 6. If applicants are approved, Office of International Students will send Jilin University International Student Admission Notice and the Visa Application Form for Foreigners to Visit China (the JW202 Form) to applicants.
