«Bodescan» THE ULTIMATE 3D SCANNER FOR DATA ACQUISITION OF HUMAN BODY A COMPREHENSIVE SYSTEM INCLUDING HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE TOOLS
Page 2 of 9 Bodescan HUMAN BODY3D SCANNING HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE INCLUDED A. Bodescan: Overview 1. Bodescan is a simple, user-friendly solution for the exact three-dimensional imaging of the human body. The hardware is robust and the software easy to use. 2. Once the scanner is turned on and the software is initialized, the subject walks inside and waits. The operator then begins the scanning process. The four scanning heads fulfill their mission in a short time and the software processes all generated data to display the final result. 3. The result is a 3D mesh with texture mapping and it can be visualized, exported and stored. Specific software tools allow analyzing and performing anthropometric measurements and a wide range of services and software integrations. 4. Bodescan has a measuring range of 2100 mm height, 1200 mm width and 1200 mm depth, and the scanning time can be as short as 15 seconds. 5. It is based on the principle of laser triangulation, and the laser integrated in each scanning head is completely eye-safe (it is a Class II laser).
Page 3 of 9 B. Bodescan: System components 1. Bodescan. It comprises the following items: a) Four (4) servo-driven scanning heads. Each of these performs a partial scan of the subject. They are mounted on a carriers and slide along the guides. b) Four (4) guides. Each one holds a scanning head. c) Data processor and communications hub. This component centralizes the data generated by the scanning heads and transfers it to the workstation via a USB connection. d) Cabling. Connecting all components within the scanner, and Bodescan with the computer. e) Curtains or shades. 2. Platform. A two-step stage on top of which the subject stands while the scan is being performed. 3. Aluminum structure. It provides robustness to the entire system. 4. Calibration panel. A squared panel with a special set of spots. Meant only for calibration purposes. 5. PC workstation. With sufficient memory, graphic card and processing capacity. Recommended conditions for the installation site: a) Lighting: Under controlled conditions, but not necessarily with dim lights or in darkness. A common office environment will suffice. RGB capture requires some lighting. b) Displacement of the scanner is highly discouraged but is possible. Re-calibration is necessary afterwards. 2. The installation process has four phases: a) Hardware setup. Includes assembling of the aluminum structure, connection of all devices, initial checkup, and lighting tests. b) Software installation. c) Calibration. d) Tests. 3. The installation time depends on the specific circumstances but would not normally take longer than two or three days. 4. Re-calibration: a) A re-calibration procedure is provided. It involves using a calibration panel and software tools. b) Periodic re-calibration is recommended. The re-calibration frequency depends on the usage.
Page 5 of 9 D. Bodescan: Software operation and output data 1. The entire system can be software-operated. Bodescan software is a user-friendly application with a simple interface. Two main options are presented to the user: a) Scanning. b) Calibration. 2. The scanning process involves two distinct phases. Both of them take place automatically and sequentially as soon as the user clicks on Scan : a) 3D data acquisition. b) Data processing. 3. The result is a 3D mesh with texture mapping. A 3D visualization is available immediately. 4. Preliminary mesh editing tools are provided with the software. 5. (Optional) An anthropometric analysis module can be provided upon request. 6. Output files can be exported to several formats: STL, OBJ, DXF, VRML, Collada.
Page 6 of 9 F. Bodescan: Technical support 1. System installation is included in this quotation. 2. Initial technical and practical training is provided. 3. Documentation and user manual are provided for further reference and quick consultation. 4. Simple re-calibration procedure is provided for the non-experienced user. 5. Troubleshooting and technical support. Remote support is provided for free during the first year via e-mail, phone calls, instant messenger and/or video-conference. Extension of the support contract can be agreed upon. 6. Software updates are provided free-of-charge. 7. Warranty: 1 year.
