The Master s Challenge CLC - Summer 2013 Why do we do The Master s Challenge? We have a passion for teaching children about Jesus Christ and His Word. The bible knowledge that the kids learn now will stick with them throughout their lives! As they grow older, we pray that this knowledge grows into wisdom, understanding, and a deep faith and hope in Jesus Christ. What is The Master s Challenge? This summer, we encourage the kids to learn 60 basic Bible questions, ranging from basic bible facts and concepts to Christian doctrines. The questions come from an amazing program called Junior Bible Quiz (PA and Jen participated in JBQ when we were in elementary school, and we can still remember the questions, even after all these years! By the way, our church participates in JBQ during the school year and we ll be using many of these summer questions ask us if you re interested!). How it works: Each Wednesday we will introduce and explain 5-10 new questions. Then the kids will break up into small groups to work on learning the new questions for that night. We then play a game as a group to practice the new questions and review the ones we ve already learned. (Then we ll play outside! Yeah summer! J ) At the end of the summer (Wednesday, August 21), the kids can choose to take The Master s Challenge. If they can correctly answer 5 out of 10 randomly pulled questions (out of all 60 questions), they earn a ribbon. If they can answer 7 questions correctly, they earn a ribbon and a pizza party. If they answer all 10 correct, they earn a ribbon, pizza party and either a handshake or a big wet sloppy kiss from Pastor Aaron during the Awards Ceremony! J Kids who are absent on August 21 can be quizzed the following Sunday or Wednesday. Wednesday night, August 28 will be our Awards Ceremony and Pizza Party night! We re aware that many kids will miss one or more Wednesday nights due to the summer schedule; so we ve included the questions for the entire summer so that even if your child misses a week, they can still learn the questions at home. J Even if your child does not attend on Wednesday nights, they can still learn the questions and earn the ribbon/pizza party. For that matter, any parent who studies the questions and takes the challenge can earn a ribbon/pizza party!!! This is a great family activity! Study the questions with your kids. Learn them together. Look up the stories or verses in the bible. (It s much easier to memorize the answer to a question if you already know the story.) Let s get passionate about learning God s Word!!! FYI: Most answers also include a Bible reference (in italics) that does NOT need to be memorized (we just wanted to include it in case you wanted to find the answer in the bible). Any QUOTATION QUESTION should be memorized word- for- word (or as close as possible) including the bible reference. There is also a BONUS question for each week: these questions will help the kids to learn all 66 books of the bible. Pastor Aaron and Jen
