A MODERN, INTUITIVE AND MARKET-LEADING ELECTRONIC PATIENT RECORD SOLUTION

MEDWAY EPR IS A MODERN, FULLY-MODULAR, NHS-FOCUSED SOLUTION, WHICH CAN BE BUILT TO A CUSTOMER S SPECIFICATION FROM FOUR CATEGORIES OF COMPONENTS: A CENTRAL PAS, WHICH MANAGES ALL PATIENT CONTACTS AND REFERRALS INCLUDING OUTPATIENTS, INPATIENTS AND WAITING LISTS BUILT-IN CLINICAL FUNCTIONALITY, SUCH AS STRUCTURED NOTING, CLINICAL CORRESPONDENCE, ORDERS AND RESULTS A NUMBER OF DEPARTMENTAL SOLUTIONS KEY TO THE RUNNING OF A HOSPITAL, SUCH AS EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT, MATERNITY, BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE AND THEATRE MANAGEMENT AN INTEGRATED CARE RECORD CAPABILITY, WHICH MAKES DATA FROM OTHER THIRD PARTY SYSTEMS AVAILABLE FROM WITHIN MEDWAY Medway EPR - developed specifically for the NHS market With an average 15 years experience of working for or with the NHS, our UK-based staff understand healthcare challenges, the complexities of the NHS and local needs. We work closely with our customers to design and deliver software that meets the requirements of today s healthcare organisations. The Medway EPR roadmap is managed in collaboration with our user groups, ensuring the strongest level of NHS input. Medway is today used in over 40 NHS Trusts. They range in size from very large acute Trusts, such as Nottingham University Hospitals and University Hospitals Bristol, to smaller specialist Trusts, such as cancer specialist, The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

MEDWAY EPR MODULES EMERGENCY DEP ARTM E N T Provides a single point of access for clinicians and administrators to capture, interrogate and update patients electronic health records Offers a highly-configurable and intuitive user experience, as it is designed around the workflow of NHS users. The deployment phasing is built to encourage early clinical adoption through extensive EPR functions and interoperability, such as viewing results within Medway Complies with NHS Common User Interface standards, allowing users to quickly learn and understand its functions Offers easy navigation between functions, simplifying how the system is used. Users can do a lot more from within a single function; this includes marking and annotating favourite patients (e.g. patients of particular interest to them or patients for whom they need to remember to take some action); and easily accessing the list of recently-used patients Enables access to the patient homepage, the patient s entire record and associated functions Provides fully-integrated functionality to support patients care management Has a sound administrative record, which supports clinicians with a range of clinical functions, all of which have been developed with the same Medway core values: intuitive operation, customisation to reflect differences in care delivery and a standardised look and feel. These principles ensure high adoption rates throughout the Trust whilst minimising training needs. Integrated PAS/EPR delivering broad functionality Medway EPR offers breadth of functionality to suit a range of operational working practices. As illustrated on the above diagram, a host of modules can be integrated within Medway EPR, from advanced patient management and electronic patient record functions, clinical modules and dashboards to shared record systems and reporting information. At the core of Medway EPR is a modern, comprehensive patient administration system (PAS), the very best on the market today. It can bring cashreleasing, quality and safety benefits, maximising the return on investment. STRONG, PROVEN DEPLOYMENT RECORD The leading supplier of EPR solutions to the NHS 12 Medway EPR systems were deployed successfully in the last year alone 20 Medway EPR sites

Smooth deployment processes minimise disruption and protect revenue The highly-configurable solution is specifically designed to automate NHS mandated processes and reports. System C s low deployment risk, and excellent track record for delivery on time and on budget, ensures continuity of reporting and revenue generation. Deployment is undertaken at a pace that minimises organisational disruption, ensuring safe and high quality care delivery, reduced associated costs while maintaining the Trust s revenue streams. Supporting patient referral and RTT management Medway provides comprehensive RTT pathway management functionality, fully embedding the pathway creation and data capture within associated modules (outpatient, waiting list, inpatient), in addition to providing a distinct RTT pathway module. Activity and reporting enable Trusts to meet their obligations (e.g. CDS and 18-week wait RTT reporting) and generate reports in support of revenue collection. Designed to support safer care Patient safety and clinical user acceptability are key design features of all Medway EPR developments. Our aim is to help reduce medical errors and support best practice, which will not only improve the quality of care but help reduce the threat of litigation and lower insurance premiums. In addition, clinical decision support is provided in a number of areas such as Orders & Results, Clinical Noting and e-prescribing. Intuitive command and control, supporting ease of access to information At the heart of the system are configurable patient worklists, which highlight the current status of a patient s pathway through the organisation, as well as clinical tasks which need action. These lists provide configurable content and are filterable by the type of records they show. Most importantly, all relevant information is offered to the end user in real time. MEDWAY EPR HIGHLIGHTS Features Dynamic worklists are used across all modules to provide users with the ability to configure lists of patients who require action to be taken e.g. patients that require acknowledgement of results, follow-up appointments and discharge summaries Supports the full range of scheduling in both Outpatients and Theatres, providing tools to manage appointment availability and appointment allocation for all patients, including Choose and Book Patient tracking throughout, providing micromanagement capability for each patient, e.g. within Emergency Department, Outpatients, Inpatients, RTT pathways Industry standard HL7 interfacing capability Modern technology based on integrated Microsoft platform, adopting the NHS/Microsoft, Common User Interface (CUI) standards Benefits Modern and intuitive to use Functionality to support clinical and administrative workflows and patient pathways in use across the modern NHS The patient homepage provides a single access point to a patient s entire electronic record - orders can be placed, assessments completed and results viewed In-built design features promote high standards of data quality, ensuring data analysis is accurate and supports the highest levels of patient care Allows integration with external third party systems, including single sign-on and patient context passing Supports touch screen devices, patient kiosks, patient photo capture and storage Aligned with government initiatives: paperless working (e.g. fully-integrated EDMS); proforma support and mobile access to aid data collection; patient access to records; improved integration of third party products and open APIs

Medway Interoperability suite includes the capability to amalgamate data from a wide range of third party systems such as Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS), Theatres and PACS. Our open integration architecture allows for the richest possible level of integration with relevant systems. As part of Medway Interoperability suite, Trusts are offered the tools to configure generic data widgets. The widgets allow data from suitable external systems to be combined into the patient s home page. This enables Trusts to configure complete and comprehensive electronic patient records within the solution with minimal recourse. Viewing data from other systems in patient context The suite also allows integration with other Medway EPR modules, into a summary view of clinical information. This patient homepage enables a complete summary view across the patient EPR and for its use to be controlled, adjusted and audited based on the user s role and identity. Single sign-on and context links to data and functionality in other clinical systems offers a comprehensive patient record from a single place A range of options exists for User interface integration to third party systems, one of which includes context-based integration. For example, a PACS viewer can be launched with single sign-on and patient context, in order that images are displayed from within a Medway frame. Supporting Choose and Book referrals Medway has been designed with integrated Choose and Book functionality, providing direct bookable outpatient referral and appointment bookings. MEETING LOCAL NEEDS Configurable features allow Trusts to apply their own processes and standards Coded data capture can include local values and using mapping tables Customisable layout: Data capture screens can be edited for content, description and mandatory status, thus minimising the impact of changing systems and working practices Clinical modules such as Order Communications, e-prescribing and Clinical Noting, provide mechanisms for Trusts to apply their local protocols and standards around care delivery Medway EPR Patient Homepage showing summary data in configurable widgets An example third party PACS integration with Medway, called with single sign-on and patient context

This is something the clinicians have wanted for some considerable time. You just click on the CareCentric Embedded button in the portal and bang - you ve suddenly got the GP in the room with you. It gives clinicians assurance and back-up. By bringing together GP, community, and acute data they get a much more complete picture of their patient s needs Simon Parton, Head of software services, Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust. Medway CareCentric combines the data collected in Medway and other local systems into a single digital shared care record. CareCentric gives acute clinicians immediate access to GP, community, mental health and social care records. It also allows GPs and care professionals to see their patients acute records, including results and correspondence. Medway Business Intelligence (BI) is a flexible reporting tool, data warehouse and management information system designed exclusively for the NHS. Medway s order communications and results services are an integrated part of the Medway EPR. Investigations and services can be ordered and results viewed from any point in the system where a patient is selected; from an emergency department or ward screen, at an outpatient consultation, from dynamic patient work lists or simply when viewing demographic information. Medway e-prescribing offers an intuitive, safe and complete electronic prescribing and medicines administration experience. Medway Emergency Department manages all clinical and administrative aspects of emergency care as a fully-integrated module of the Medway EPR. The system collects clinical data throughout the A&E episode including medical history, incident triage details, diagnoses, medications, investigations and treatments. Medway includes a comprehensive electronic Clinical Noting designer tool, which allows forms, protocols and care pathways to be locally created and published to the clinical user community. These forms include items from a Trust-managed data dictionary, sharing data across the patient s record. Notes can take many different forms and outputs, such as clinical assessments, clerking-in forms, discharge summaries and patient questionnaires.

A native ipad app will support mobile working within the Trust. It will use key features within the ios platform to ensure data security through encryption. Access rights will be managed through the Medway role-based access control functions. System C s open integration architecture is further enhanced via a number of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). These APIs will support the Medway Mobile application but will also be packaged and made directly available to customers and third parties as part of the Medway Interoperability suite. Medway Observations & Charting enables users to capture vital sign observations and fluid balance observations within electronic charts. It also includes a toolkit for defining, configuring and creating charts. Medway Kiosk allows patients to self-checkin by entering a combination of patient number, appointment reference, name and date of birth. Medway Maternity is a specialist maternity system which can be deployed as a stand-alone solution or as an integrated part of the Medway EPR. It provides a complete solution to documenting a woman s obstetric journey, covering the first booking visit, antenatal care and fetal medicine, and all aspects of labour management, postnatal care and discharge information. Medway Patient Portal is an online application that allows patients to engage with their own NHS care record in a secure manner over the internet. The portal enables patients and their carers to: view their own NHS care records add information to their care records via forms and applications, to share information with their care professionals communicate directly with care professionals by asking questions, leaving comments, or sending e-mail messages access high quality and reliable health and care information to patients access transactional services
