A one day course where delegates will: Learn the different techniques in augmenting the atrophic posterior maxilla. Different sinus lifting procedures will be studied such as the balloon technique as well as the lateral window approach. The objective of these procedures is to increase bone quantity and quality in order to place implants at a later stage. The course will address the following topics: Rationale Equipment requirements Diagnosis and radiology/ct scanning Materials Treatment planning, consent and risk Technique management Management of complications Relative anatomy Pharmacology Physiology of bone Presentation of case studies Keys to grafting building blocks in the Hands-on practical working graft process, e.g.bmps, TCP, PRGF, on models and using relevant CaOH etc. hand instruments At the end of the course the participants will have: An understanding of the rationale and techniques available to augment the posterior sinus to allow the placement of implants at a later stage.
Socket Preservation Thursday 19th February 2015. London. Speaker: Dr Anne O Donoghue Course Fee: 250 + VAT The aim of this course is to ensure delegates understand the concept of successful socket preservation; from patient and graft selection through to post operative care. The course will cover: Anatomy -bone quality and quantity Resorption patterns post extraction Anatomical limitations and risks Consensus statements and treatment guidelines and outcomes Risk factors affecting the surgical risk and outcome Clinical examination and planning aids Methods of socket preservation - GBR principles and biomaterials selection Post-operative care Provisional prosthesis Patient selection At the end of the course the participants will have: A full understanding of what they need to consider prior, during and after socket preservation treatment.
Dental Implant Nurse Training Saturday 28th February 2015. London. Saturday 13th June 2015. Cardiff. Saturday 5th September 2015. Leeds. Extraction Socket Grafting and Ridge Augmentation Wednesday 4th March 2015. Birmingham. Speaker: Dr Eugene Marais Course Fee: 250 + VAT The aim of this course is to teach delegates concepts in the maintenance and preservation of the edentulous ridge; with a view to providing an implant solution. Delegates will learn the importance of atraumatic extractions to preserve the bony wall of the socket. A one day course where delegates will: Learn the concepts of atraumatic extraction of tooth/roots to preserve bone combined with grafting and soft tissue management. Maintenance and preservation of the edentulous ridge is also considered, with a view to delayed placement of implants. Grafting techniques using bone graft substitutes (BGS) and membranes to preserve and maintain the crestal ridge will be considered. In the edentulous ridge, mapping techniques combined with interpreting radiographs and CT scans will allow delegates to determine ridge width. Graft placement using particulate and block grafts as well as autogenous bone harvesting techniques will be studied. In all cases, delegates will practice these procedures with a hands-on workshop. At the end of the course the participants will have: An understanding of the concepts of socket preservation using atraumatic techniques. Where an edentulous ridge case presents, they will have the diagnostic skills to assess alveolar ridge width. The use of BGS and collagen membranes as well as alternative augmentation techniques for crestal and ridge preservation will be understood, so allowing for a predictable aesthetic implant outcome.
