Offshore technology- Industrial Asset Management- Master's Degree Programme Credits: 120 credits Grade name: Master i teknologi / sivilingeniør Full-time/Part-time: Full-time Introduction With a master's degree in Industrial asset management you will acquire expertise that is much in demand today. The program combines engineering disciplines with important management components to provide the new generation of engineers with core competencies for a challenging and competitive carrier. Projects and problems in the program are often taken from the offshore industry, but the program is also to a great extent about methods and principles commonly used in land based industry. Industrial asset management is an interdisciplinary program based on subjects within engineering and management. This includes for example, operations and maintenance, cost engineering and economics, diagnostic and prognostic engineering and management, safety and risk management, industrial services, work processes and information systems, performance management and quality, as well as the interaction between human, technology and organization. A bachelor's degree in all engineering subjects qualifies for further studies in Industrial asset management. PROGRAM CONTENT, STRUCTURE AND PROGRESSION Consisting of a total of 120 ECTS, this master program is made up of 20 ECTS basic (core) methods courses (G) which consolidate and continue the mathematical and scientific foundation from the bachelor program. 15 ECTS are common (core) subjects (F), which will give the students a broad and common platform in offshore technology as well as complement and expand subjects from the bachelor program. The remaining 85 ECTS consist of 35 ECTS of compulsory specialization courses (S), 20 ECTS of elective courses (V) and a final master thesis of 30 ECTS (M). The faculty will offer a list of recommended electives. The students themselves must check that they have the necessary basic knowledge to be able to tackle these courses. Other electives must be approved by the department, but the students will have considerable freedom in putting together their own combinations depending on personal interests and qualities. The master thesis may be written either at the faculty or in cooperation with industry. Many students base their master theses on work done in companies within the petroleum industry, but also in companies within other industries as well. In order to be assigned a topic for a master paper, satisfactory progression must be demonstrated as cited in Regulations for Master's theses. UiS wishes to offer all its programs as planned, but courses still have to be subject to availability of resources and a minimum student enrollment. Also the content and scope of the courses will necessarily have to change over time because of professional development, use of new technology and general social change. page 1

Relevant background could also be two-year engineer program with a one-year further education. Other technological or scientific programs may also qualify for admission. Applicants are admitted on the basis of individual assessment. Admission information If there are fewer applicants than can be accommodated, those applicants that do not fulfill the requirements for admission can be given conditional admission when they lack up to 10 ECTS. Missing ECTS must be taken within one year of the beginning of the program. After admission to the program the students may apply to the faculty for permission to take it as a part-time study. Application must be sent to the UiS on a separate local application form. If a student wants to be admitted on a basis of individual competence, s/he must contact the admission office. components for engineers. A completed master's degree may give admission to the PhD program in for example offshore technology at the UiS. Study Abroad Modules in internationalization within the four semester master program can most conveniently be offered in connection with the more general subjects in the second semester (spring), but this depends on the agreements that have been made.
