If you are francophone, in Grade 8 or Grade 9, and have your permanent residence outside of Quebec, Destination Clic could give you three weeks to make exciting discoveries, enjoy new experiences, meet people you ll never forget, and achieve real and useful goals, all while exploring another region of Canada. The best part is that Destination Clic offers you the opportunity to network with other francophones from all over the country and to discover different francophone communities. I recommend this program to all young people who want to get a taste of university life and enjoy a cultural experience in another city in Canada in order to better appreciate the French language. Isabelle LeBlanc, St. Antoine, New Brunswick Some useful facts Destination Clic is a three-week intensive language course and cultural exchange. You ll have classes and themed activities every day. Accommodation You will live on campus. Bursary The bursary covers the cost of the course, instructional materials, meals, and accommodation, as well as part of the travel costs. * If you receive a bursary, you ll have to pay a registration fee. The bursary ** is paid directly to the host institution. Who can participate in Destination Clic? To be eligible to apply, you must meet the following criteria: be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (those studying in Canada on student visas are not eligible); have your permanent residence outside of Quebec; be enrolled in a French-language school (French-as-afirst-language), in Grade 8 or 9. Note: Students who speak French as a first language but do not attend a French-language school may also apply, but further documentation or assessment may be required to ensure they have the required level of fluency. Bursaries are awarded by random selection, based on provincial and territorial allotments and institutional quotas. Priority is given to first-time applicants. How to apply Complete the application form on-line at www.destinationclic.ca by following the instructions. Send the printed, signed application form and the required photocopy of your Canadian birth certificate, proof of Canadian citizenship, or proof of permanentresident status to the coordinator of your home province or territory by March 31 (postmark). You may also complete the attached application form. Each institution that offers Destination Clic has its own admission criteria. To find out more, check the table on page 5 or visit the institution s Web site. If your application is accepted The institution you will be attending will send you an acceptance package. Complete the package and return it, along with your registration fee and deposit, if applicable. Don t delay! You will have 10 working days * to accept the bursary and pay the registration fee, failing which your bursary will be awarded to another applicant. Institutions need to know how many students are coming. * Applicable only for the initial draw. When you ll hear from us In early April, you will be notified by e-mail of the status of your application. If you re on a waiting list, don t despair! Because bursaries are awarded when replacing recipients who decide not to attend, you may still have a chance to participate in Destination Clic. Only complete applications will be accepted. You will have to provide your Social Insurance Number to the institution you will be attending. Some educational institutions may require other official identification documents. Destination Clic is offered at three institutions University of Ottawa The University of Ottawa campus is located in the heart of the nation s capital, just across the river from Quebec. Destination Clic offers a unique summer program with courses in French language and Franco-Ontarian literature, as well as a wide range of activities that give you a university experience. In addition to numerous excursions, you can attend workshops on topics ranging from theatre to creative writing, from sports to the arts.
