3 Davisware GlobalEdge How to Configure & Send Faxes User s Guide Setup Faxing out of Global Edge is done through an interface to MetroFax, a leading web-based fax provider. Follow the simple steps below and you ll be configured and ready to go in 15 minutes or less. 1. Visit the Metrofax website at www.metrofax.com and sign up for a new account. There are 3 levels of plans available, based on the expected amount of page usage you require. The email address you register with will become the default email address to receive all success and failure messages. Take that into consideration when deciding what email to use. You do have the ability to add additional email addresses to this account and that will be discussed in step 9 below.
4 Davisware GlobalEdge How to Configure & Send Faxes User s Guide 2. Once you have your account established, log in to GE and go to the System Control File which is found on the GL Setup Menu. Click on the Connection Details tab. a. In the Fax Details section, select MetroFax as your fax source. b. Enter https://wsf.metrofax.com/webservice.asmx in the URL field. c. Enter the email address and password that you used when creating your Metrofax account.
5 Davisware GlobalEdge How to Configure & Send Faxes User s Guide 3. To configure your users within GE, go to User Maintenance which is found in System Utilities, System Setup Menu. Click on the Fax/Email/Scan Details tab. In the Fax Details section, a. Enter your name as it will be displayed on your cover sheets. b. Enter the return fax number that will be displayed on your cover sheets. c. Enter the phone number that will be displayed on your cover sheets. d. Select one of the 6 available cover sheet types from the drop down selection, or select None if you do not wish to send a cover page by default. The available cover page types are Basic, Casual, Classic, Confidential, Contemporary, & Professional. This is ONLY the default for the user. You will always be able to override and select any of the available cover sheets when sending your fax. Keep in mind that each cover page will count towards your allowed page limit per month. Selecting the NONE option will allow your user to transmit their document without sending a cover sheet along with it. e. Enter email address of your user ONLY if you want that person to receive success and failure notifications from Metrofax via email. This requires additional setup on the MetroFax account and that is discussed in step 9 below. The other option is to leave this field blank and all failure messages for this user will be sent to the default email address used on your MetroFax account. 4. Once you have completed your setup in GE, call or email your support contact at our office and provide us with the email address you used to register your Metrofax account. With this information, we are then able to turn on the web interface for your account. Activation of the web interface will be complete within 24hrs. Oftentimes it will occur the same day. Once we get confirmation that it has been turned on, we will then notify you and you are now ready to fax.
6 Davisware GlobalEdge How to Configure & Send Faxes User s Guide Sending Faxes 1. You can send a fax by pressing the E-Fax button on the GE Main Menu OR by pressing the F11 Send button on any of our screens where it s available.
7 Davisware GlobalEdge How to Configure & Send Faxes User s Guide 2. From the Fax window that pops up, fill in the recipient details and any note you wish to include on your cover page. Confirm your cover page type in the drop down box and when you are ready, press the Send Fax button.
8 Davisware GlobalEdge How to Configure & Send Faxes User s Guide 3. You can check the status of your fax transmission by going to your Sent Fax List on the GE Main Menu. 4. The status on this screen indicates success or failure in transmitting the fax to the Metrofax website. You can check confirm fax delivery to the recipient from your dashboard on the website OR by configuring your users to receive email messages containing these confirmations. From this screen, you can also forward a previously sent fax to a new recipient, resend a fax to the same recipient, or view the attachments from the original fax. The fol der icon in the last column indicates whether there was an attachment or just a cover page that was sent. Clicking this icon will open your PDF viewer so you can see the document(s).

10 Davisware GlobalEdge How to Configure & Send Faxes User s Guide OPTIONAL SETUP The default setup includes registering 1 email address on your Metrofax account. That email address will then receive all failure notifications when they occur. It will be up to the person monitoring that email to deal with it from there. You may elect to setup an email group and use that to register your account. This would allow multiple people to be copied on the same failure notifications. The alternative to this is to register additional email addresses on your Metrofax account. You are allowed up to 10 email addresses at no additional charge. Metrofax will charge $2/month for each additional email after the 10. Login to your Metrofax account. Go to Account Profile. Then click Add button. Here you can add your additional emails.
11 Davisware GlobalEdge How to Configure & Send Faxes User s Guide Then go back to your User Setup in GE, and enter the email address under the Fax Email Address field as shown below. That s all there is to it. Once you have this configured, all success/failure communications will be sent directly back to this email address. Remember, since you are only allowed 10 free email addresses to start, you may elect to setup email groups instead of individual email. i.e. purchasing@company.com, sales@company.com, et c. This way you can have multiple people configured to receive messages without using up all 10 of the free accounts.
