What s New in JReport 12 Introduction JReport 12 helps take data visualization to the next level by providing new tools such as Visual Analysis that enhances self-service interactive data analysis powered by high performance in-memory cubes, as well as more options for connecting to data sources. On top of its advanced visualization functionality, JReport is the leading 100% Java embedded reporting solution. Other JReport 12 enhancements improve usability, security, and flexibility for reports and dashboards. Visual Analysis Visual Analysis in JReport 12 allows report developers and end users to easily transform their data into rich visualization. Advanced Data Visualization Improvements JReport 12 improves on its powerful data visualization capabilities via robust charts, intuitive on-screen interactions, and enhanced usability to help you get more out of your data. Figure 2: Sample Sales Report JReport 12 provides enhancements to over 40 chart types and styles. You can choose from standard chart types like bar, line, pie or scatter charts as well as more advanced chart types like bullet, doughnut, bubble, etc. to best fit your visualization and analysis needs. With JReport 12 you can even include new live charts like motion, scrollable, and real-time charts in your data visualization. Dynamic motion charts use auto-playable parameters to help you visualize trends in your data over time and with scrollable charts you can break large amounts of data into more manageable segments for easy exploration. Using realtime charts, you can monitor live, incremental data as it becomes available. JDashboard: Easy to Build, Easy to Use With JDashboard, end users can create and interact with highly visual dashboards without the help of a developer. JDashboard provides intuitive features for mashing up different components pulled from the convenient Component Library. The Component Library can hold any number of pre-built components that can be dragged and dropped into dashboards. And, in JReport 12 you also have the option of reusing your existing reports as full tabs as well as individual report components as part of your dashboards. Additionally, JDashboard gives you the flexibility to pull in external resources to your dashboards providing easy integration with 3rd party components like Google Maps for example or any other webpage that you choose. Like JReport, JDashboard is highly interactive, making data exploration a snap. On-screen filters, slider controls, drill downs, and more can be applied for you to get a more granular view of your data. Changing the course of your analysis is as easy as removing or modifying filters in one click. The app s native ios implementation allows you to intuitively work with data using touch and gestures for on the go exploration and visualize your data in interactive animated charts. You can also thumb through to scroll the rows and columns of your crosstab and table components for easy data discovery. Additionally, you have the flexibility to select from different chart types to see information from an alternate point of view. Server Live provides complete report management, distribution, and administrative functionality with unmatched reliability. Server Live also provides JReport s ad hoc reporting and dashboard solutions. JReport 12 enhancements to JReport Server Live allow it to scale from single-cpu to large, multi-cpu and clustered server environments even more easily. Scaling up is as simple as plugging in a new server, powering it up, and executing JReport s clustering software, which automatically recognizes the new server and immediately begins utilizing it to process and balance workloads. JReport 12 provides many new options for connecting to data sources. JReport now integrates with Amazon Redshift, a fully managed, petabyte-scale data warehouse service, and Amazon RDS, a fully managed relational database service. Support for Big Data sources MongoDB and Apache Hive are also supported in JReport 12. Additionally in JReport 12, JReport Server Live is able to generate dashboards and reports with components rendered using either Flash or HTML5. By supporting all popular client side technologies, JReport gives you the flexibility to meet any user requirement or deployment scenario and gives you a choice to deploy in any user application framework. Also enhanced in JReport 12 is JReport Monitor. JReport Monitor allows administrators to manage utilization for the entire cluster and add and remove resources as needed. JReport Monitor also lets the administrator see which reports are running with parameters and can export the status of reports.
