Attendance regulations 100% attendance on all clinical placements Any absences must be made up at the end of Stage 4 BEFORE either the degree is awarded or ABA registration is possible. Unsuccessful repeat the duration of module any time owing is in addition to this Employee & Student adhere to local and statutory regulations (HSE circular) & UCD student rules and regulations (Student Handbook) and An Bord Altranais (Standards and Requirements Document). Cannot graduate or register until all clinical time is made up

Domains of Competence: An Bord Altranais assumptions Competence is NOT purely concerned with skills competent nurse possess many attributes practical and technical skills, communication and interpersonal skills, organisational and managerial skills, evidence based practice, reflective thinking and problem solving abilities Competence is not static Competence must therefore be maintained (An Bord Altranais 2005)

Skills List Contains a list of clinical skills Process of skill attainment divided into four levels Must reach competence level in all skills by end of Stage 4 Must be available at all times whilst on clinical placement
DoCAT/MidCAT Outcomes Reminder sent Pass (P) = achieved all standards +/- time Incomplete (I) = standard not signed off [due to insufficient time in clinical area] No Grade (NG) = failure to present doc to personal tutor with no ext circumstances Ext circumstances ( IX) form completed, evidence included, decided by committee (refer to new policy) Always go to Clinical Allocations immediately after seeing Personal Tutor at DoCAT Presentation time if any absence has occurred OR if any standard other than Pass has been received.

Registration process Registration with the Nursing Board cannot occur until the following process is complete: Final DoCAT/MidCAT are signed off Outstanding time is made up and/or supplemental DoCAT/MidCAT completed Timesheets evidencing outstanding time has been made up are submitted to the Allocations Office here in the School. The College Exam Board has ratified the results The Partner Hospitals meet with the School to permit each student to go forward for registration. The Students SIS is reading as degree complete i.e. that the student can see from their exam results screen that ALL credits for the degree have been awarded. The School Clinical Allocations Office will notify the students details of when to collect their An Bord Altranais Application for Registration Form (already signed by Head of School). Student then brings the form to their own Director of Nursing to sign Then sends the form to An Bord Altranais for registration.
