Comparison of use of dominant and non-dominant hands in HALS. A study carried out in the department of Surgical Skills Unit in Ninewells hospital, United Kingdom with 30 surgeons from different parts of Europe, America and Asia. The research showed significant improvement in task performance using the dominant hand inside the abdomen in HALS. Multitool proved to be very promising and was recommended for HALS requiring extensive suturing skills. Bile duct injuries Evaluation and management Evaluation of the causes of bile duct injuries and to facilitate appropriate management depending on various clinical presentation. This study was done with 22 cases referred to SRMC & RI Hospital, Chennai, for a period of three years. Failure to indenty the anatomy was considered to be the commonest cause of injury and immediate treatment option had found to produce best results with Hepatico-jejunostomy being the gold standard in the treatment. TEACHING: Director of Forum for Laparoscopic Innovtive Practices (FLIP), a first of its king training course covering all aspects of innovations in laparoscopy and trained around 200 surgeons. A qualified tutor for courses conducted by Eithicon Institute of Surgical Education (EISE), PACE foundation by Covidien, Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeos (IAGES) and Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI). Been a part of teaching as assistant professor in medical institutions for 9 years now. I m presently a honorary ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR of Surgery in Saveetha Medical College, Chennai. I also am an EXAMINER / FACULTY for FIAGES and FAMASI courses.
FIELDS OF INTEREST: My main field of interest will be Bariatric surgery. I have completed more than 400 successful cases in my department with all types of bariatrics including band, sleeve, bypass, duodenal switch and re-do bariatrics. I carry an excellent record with least morbidity & no mortality. Recent addition to my updated interest is Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS), and Robotic Surgery, two new promising branches of minimal access surgery, and I ve already performed the most variety of SILS in the country, which includes few of India s first SILS procedures and India s first Robotic Bariatric procedures.
