Before you begin the lab, you must: Start the SEA-DC-01 and SEA-WSS-02 virtual machines Log on to both servers as CONTOSO\administrator Password is Pa$$w0rd Exercise 1: Configure Windows SharePoint Services Search Service Note: Perform these steps on SEA-WSS-02. Task 1: Configure the WSS Search service account 1. On SEA-WSS-02, click Start Administrative Tools SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration. 2. The Connect to SEA-WSS-02.Contoso.com dialog box appears. In the User name field, type CONTOSO\administrator. 3. In the Password field, type Pa$$w0rd and then click OK. 4. On the Internet Explorer dialog box, click Add. On the Trusted Sites dialog box, click Add, and then click the Close button. 5. On the top navigation bar, click Operations. 6. Under Topology and Services, click Services on server. 7. On the Services on Server: SEA-WSS-02 page, click Windows SharePoint Services Search. 8. On the Configure Windows SharePoint Services Search Service Settings on server SEA-WSS-02 page, under Service Account, click Configurable. 9. In the User name field, type CONTOSO\ administrator. 10. In the Password field, type Pa$$w0rd. 11. Under Content Access Account, in the User name field, type CONTOSO\ administrator. 12. In the Password field, type Pa$$w0rd. Task 2: Configure the indexing schedule 1. Under Indexing schedule, click Daily.

Task 1: Select a Web application 1. On the top navigation bar, click Operations. 2. On the Operations page, under Global Configuration, click Alternate access mappings. 3. On the Alternate Access Mappings page, click Add Internal URLs. 4. On the Add Internal URLs page, in the Alternate Access Mapping Collection list, click Change Alternate Access Mapping Collection. 5. Click SharePoint - 80. Task 2: Edit public URLs 1. In the Zone list, click Internet. 2. In the URL protocol, host and port field, type http://contosoportal.com. 3. Click Save. 4. Task 1: Enable self-service site creation 1. On the top navigation bar, click Application Management. 2. On the Application Management page, under Application Security, click Selfservice site management. 3. On the Self-Service Site Management page, click On. 4. Click OK. Task 2: Configure Backup 1. On the top navigation bar, click Operations. 2. On the Operations page, under Backup and Restore, click Perform a backup. 3. On the Perform a Backup Step 1 of 2: Select Component to Backup page, select the check box next to Windows SharePoint Services Web Application, and then click Continue to Backup Options. 4. On the Perform a Backup Step 2 of 2: Select Backup Options page, in the Backup location field, type C:\WSS\Backups, and then click OK. 5. The Backup and Restore Status page appears. Task 3: Create a quota template 1. On the top navigation bar, click Application Management. 2. On the Application Management page, under SharePoint Site Management, click Quota templates. 3. On the Quota Templates page, in the New template name field, type Storage Limit. 4. Select Limit site storage to a maximum of, and then type 500. 5. Click OK. Task 4: Manage site quotas 1. On the Application Management page, under SharePoint Site Management, click Site collection quotas and locks. 2. On the Site Collection Quotas and Locks page, in the Current quota template list, click Storage Limit. 3. Click OK.

Task 1: Enable Usage Analysis Processing 1. On the top navigation bar, click Operations. 2. On the Operations page, under Logging and Reporting, click Usage analysis processing. 3. On the Usage Analysis Processing page, select the Enable logging check box. 4. Select the Enable usage analysis processing check box. 5. Click OK. Task 2: Evaluate the site collection usage summary 1. On the top navigation bar, in the Site Actions list, click Site Settings. 2. On the Site Settings page, under Site Collection Administration, click Usage summary. 3. On the Site Collection Usage Summary page, record the following information: a. Current storage used: b. Number of users: c. Recent bandwidth use: Task 3: Evaluate storage space allocation 1. In the Users description, click the Site Usage Reports link. 2.
