Teacher Certification Program Teaching certificates are issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) based on the recommendation of Texas A&M University-Texarkana. TEA mandates universities to provide a systemic appraisal of those individuals who propose to become teachers.
Teacher Certification Program Certification is not processed automatically. Each student must complete the online application for certification with TEA. Applications are processed when applicants meet all TEA and program requirements, including degree awarded and passing all required TExES tests. Once the Registrar s office has posted degree information, the Certification Office (Katheryn Hartshorn) will begin processing applications. This may take several weeks after the actual graduation date.
Teacher Certification Program Remember the degree is issued by the university and is separate from certification. Passing the TExES exams is a requirement for graduation and for certification.
Teacher Certification Program The following are combined programs. Students must pass all required tests for certification. The program will only recommend for both certificates. Students seeking EC-6 Generalist with Special Education must pass all three tests. The Generalist, the PPR, and the EC-12 Special Education TExES. Students seeking EC-6 Bilingual Generalist must pass the Generalist, the PPR, the Bilingual Supplemental, and the BTLPT.
