2015 Scholarship Application Alcorn State University Alumni Association of Middle TN The Alcorn State University Alumni Association of Middle TN is proud to offer a scholarship for the continuance of your post-secondary education. If you meet the criteria and wish to be considered for the award, please submit an application along with the required documentation to the Scholarship Committee at the address listed below. The Scholarship will be awarded for the 2015-2016 school term. I. Student Eligibility To be eligible for the Alcorn State University Alumni Association of Middle TN Scholarship, a student must meet the following criteria: 1. Be a resident of the State of Tennessee, Middle TN area 2. A graduate of a Middle TN area high school 3. Minimum 2.5 (4.0 scale) grade point average 4. Been accepted as a full-time student at Alcorn State University II. Student Criteria The following criteria will be utilized to select the award recipients: GPA ACT and/or SAT score Essay Involvement in Civic/Community Service Participation in extracurricular activities III. Application Submission As an applicant, along with your application, you should attach the following documentation and it should be submitted NLT June 15, 2015. A brief autobiography and essay titled Why I selected Alcorn State University to further my Education (350 word minimum) Two (2) letters of reference: One (1) academic reference (on official school letterhead) and one (1) character reference Official, sealed copy of your high school transcript or current University transcript Copy of SAT and/or ACT test scores Passport-size color photo (plain background, no group photos) Alcorn State University acceptance letter
IV. Award Selection Process A listing of eligible applicants will be submitted to the committee NLT the 1 st Saturday commencing the month after the due date of all applications (June 15, 2015). Scholarship applications will be reviewed on the merit of the Student Criteria listed in Outline II above. The committee will present the most eligible applications to the alumni body for voting selections during the 1 st Saturday meeting commencing the month after the committee is presented with the applications. Congratulatory letter(s) will be mailed to the Scholarship award recipients, duplicate copy sent to the parent/guardian listed on the application.

Alcorn State University Alumni Association of Middle TN JEWEL HULL SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES The Middle TN Alumni will award a limited number of scholarships, based on the availability of institutional and private funds, to academically meritorious or needy students. The scholarship totals $1000.00 per academic year (Sept.-May), $500.00 when awarded by semester. Institutional scholarships are provided to assist academically-deserving students; however, students with demonstrated need will also be considered. All scholarships and other financial aid already awarded will be taken into consideration when determining eligibility. I. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Recipients of the institutional scholarship are required to: A. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student aid for need-based consideration. B. Be enrolling as a first time student at Alcorn State University. C. Pursuing a Bachelor s Degree. D. Enroll as a full-time student for both fall and spring semesters. E. Have and maintain academic progress and a satisfactory GPA of 2.50-4.00. F. Maintain satisfactory behavior during school term according to Alcorn s disciplinary policy. G. SELECTION RECIPIENTS Selections will be based on student s overall academic progress, financial need, extracurricular activities, leadership roles/skills, and participation in community services. NOTICE OF AWARDS Students will be notified by letter of scholarship award or denial. Specific details outlining time, date and/or recognition of award will be included the letter. V. RENEWAL OF SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship is not renewable.
VI. REVOCATION OF AID The Middle TN Alumni reserves the right to cancel any scholarship or aid awarded at any time if the applicant fails to meet the standards of academic progress, other scholarship requirements, or falsifies information reported.
