We live in an era of globalization, but what does this really mean? This This course introduces students to the economic, political, and cultural aspects of globalization. Beginning with a discussion of Hayek vs. Keynes, the course will cover topics such as currency regimes, global trade, and international organizations such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank (IBRD), and World Trade Organization (WTO). The course will then consider the political implications of economic interdependence, including its impact on democratization and human rights. Finally, the course will address cultural aspects of global citizenship. Film selections will be used to augment case studies. Human rights have become an increasingly central issue in world politics This course introduces students to politics of international human rights.
