IRTH One Call Service Area Mapping When logging in at www.usanorth.org be sure to choose Member Service Area Registration After clicking on Member Service Area Registration you will be taken to a log in screen. At this point you want to enter the username provided to you by USA North as well as the password emailed to you by the system.
After logging in for the first time, the system will ask you to create a new personal password to replace the temporary one it emailed you. Next, you will be taken to a blank page with a few tabs at the top. You want to hover your mouse pointer over the Administration tab which will cause a Registration sub tab to appear. Click on the Registration sub tab. After clicking on the Registration sub tab, you will be taken to a disclaimer page with information regarding using the program. Please read the disclaimer in full.
Next, you will be taken to your registration home screen (a.k.a registrations by service area page) which will show you a history of your registrations. If this is a new membership, then you will only show a single registration listed. If this is an existing membership, than more than likely there will be several registrations listed. The columns on this page that you will need to pay close attention to are: Registration ID, Active and Version.
Registration ID This refers to the number designated to a Service Area Registration every time one is created. The number is unique to each Service Area Registration and is never the same. Active Refers to the Status of a Service Area Registration (SAR). The current active registration will say YES while the other previous registrations in your history that are inactive will say NO. Version Refers to the version of the Service Area Registration. A new version number is given each new registration you create in sequential order starting with 0. Creating or Adding a new Service Area Registration (SAR) To create or add a new Service Area Registration (SAR), you need to click on the [AddNew] button. A pop-up window will appear and you will be asked to choose a New Registration, Based on an existing registration or Import Registration. New Registration This allows you start with a clean slate and will be the option you want to choose if this is your first registration being created on a new membership. The mapping screen will be displayed with the states of California and Nevada showing and you will proceed by locating the vicinity of your service area on the map using different search tools to find streets or landmarks. Based on an existing registration This allows you to copy your current active registration and modify it to either add to it, or delete from it. For example, you would choose this option if you already have an active registration but simply need to add a new facility into the system or need to delete a facility from the system that is no longer active. This option allows you to make those minor changes without having to start all the way over from scratch and re-draw your entire service area over again (such is the case with the new registration option). Import Registration This feature allows the user to import shape files that will be converted into your Service Area Map. When choosing the import registration option, you need to make sure that your shape file includes the entirety of your service area. Each time you upload a shape file it will replace whatever is existing in the system before that, therefore you cannot upload your service area in multiple files. Your entire service area needs to be contained on a single shape file for uploading purposes. Accessing the Service Area Map After making the appropriate choice for the new registration you are creating you want to next click on the blue registration id number associated with the new registration you just created. Next, the
Registration Information box will pop up. This box is a general overview of the details of your registration. In this pop up box you want to click on view map. After clicking on view map, the map program box will pop up and the map will begin to load. Once the map has loaded, you will 3 different toolbars (one on top and two on bottom). The toolbars are subdivided into these separate tool sets: Navigation bar: Edit bar: Mapping bar: Below is an explanation of each tool:
Commonly Used Draw Tools: Polygon Tool: This tool is designed to allow you to draw irregular shapes/service areas. You use the tool by clicking on a starting point and following the contours of your service area, clicking at each bend/corner of the service area and finally ending up back at the start point. You double click on the last point to close it off. Figure B and Figure C are examples of mapping using this tool. Rectangle Tool & Circle Tool: The rectangle tool can measure the length and width of the square area. You use this tool by clicking on a start point and holding down your left mouse button and dragging the shape out. Once you have created the correct size/shape needed, simply release the mouse button and the shape will be added to the map. The circle tool works in the same way, except wherever you click will become the center point of your circle. Simply click and hold your mouse button, and then drag out the circle to the size needed. Included on the circle tool is a radius measurement to better assist you in creating the correct circle for your needs. Line Tool: The draw line tool allows you draw out a lined area, such as when you need to follow a road or highway. To use this tool, click on the starting point of your line and drag it out following your specified area. You want to click on each bend/corner of the area you are following to correctly manipulate the tool to cover the shape of the line you need to draw. For example, if your service is following a road, you would click the mouse at each corner or bend of the road and what it will then do is form the line into the shape of the road instead of simply drawing out a straight line. Rubber Band Feature: You may also notice the yellow dots that appear every time you map out or select an area on the map. The yellow dots are points on your mapping that you can stretch out. They are referred to as the Rubber Band Dots. The Rubber Band feature can be very useful in fine tuning a selected area for mapping ultimately decreasing the chance of getting unnecessary notifications because the service area was too big (See Figures B and C). To use the feature, simply click and hold on one of the yellow corner dots and stretch or drag it out to fine tune that area.

After drawing out your service area you still need to add it to the map itself. The current form of the service area you drew out is a temporary form, it has yet to be added to the map itself (the temporary form is denoted by the grayed out area and the yellow rubber band dots). To add the feature to the map you need to click on the add tool, which is located on the bottom tool bar and looks like a small green plus sign with a piece of paper behind it. When successfully added to the map your shape/area will turn into a blue cross hatched pattern. When you have an existing service area and you need to delete part of the area already existing, you would draw out the area to be removed the same as when you drew out the area to add but instead of hitting the green plus sign you would hit the small red x with the paper behind it. This will then turn that area into a green cross hatched area which means that it is a pending deletion from the system. After making all additions or deletions you need to first save the mapping. To save, the mapping, simply hit the save button in the top right hand corner of the mapping window. After hitting save, you will notice that the word complete replaces it. Next you want to hit the complete button. This lets the system know that you are done with
your mapping and are ready for it to be activated. If you would like to do your mapping over multiple sessions you can do so by simply clicking the save button and then closing the program. As long as you hit save before exiting each session, it will save your previous work. Then when you are all done with your mapping you hit the complete button before closing the program the final time. You can also complete a service area registration mapping without going back into the map page itself by clicking on complete within the Registration Information page. After you re all done with your mapping and ready to have it activated, you need to go back to your Registration Home Page and click on the link that says Please click here to request activation of your registration ID
Unless you click on this link and fill out the form associated with it, we will not be aware that your mapping has been completed and needs to be activated. This form is a notification to us that you are ready for your newest mapping to go live. And that s it!
