Overview Sybase ETL Small Business Edition (SBE) 4.2 provides extract, transform, and load (ETL) capabilities to consolidate data or copies of data from multiple heterogeneous data sources into one or more data targets using a single repository. When you install ETL SBE on Windows, you install Sybase ETL Development, which includes the ETL Server, Sybase ETL Development desktop, and the Sybase ETL Development engine. Sybase ETL Small Business Edition 4.2 3. Installing ETL SBE 2.2 Obtain license for ETL SBE ETL SBE uses the Sybase Software Asset Management (SySAM) licensing mechanism for license administration and asset management tasks. Once you have purchased ETL SBE, go to the SPDC Web site at http://sybase.subscribenet.com to obtain and generate the licenses. See the Sybase Software Asset Management Users Guide. ETL SBE supports the unserved license model. You must copy the license you generated from SPDC to Program Files\Sybase\ETLDevelop42\licenses directory after installation. ETL SBE, by default, comes with a 30-day trial license. Once this expires, ETL SBE switches to the license you copied to the licenses directory. Note If the license generated from SPDC is not copied to the appropriate directory, the Sybase ETL Development SySAM license window appears, prompting for a valid SySAM license when the trial license expires. For more information about the unserved license model, see Choosing a License Model in Chapter 2, Understanding Licensing Concepts and Models in the Sybase Software Asset Management Users Guide. 2.3 Determine the installation directory 3. Installing ETL SBE ETL SBE is, by default, installed in the Program Files\Sybase directory. If none exists, the installer creates one and installs ETL SBE in the new directory. Sybase recommends that you install ETL SBE into an existing Sybase directory, if one exists. You can also specify a different directory for installation. You can install ETL SBE from the installation media or download it from SPDC. Installing Sybase ETL Development 1 Run the installer: To install using the ETL SBE installation media, insert the media and select Run from the Windows Start menu.
