Regina Malinauskaitė Associate Professor of the Institute of Biology Plant Biotechnology, Faculty of Agronomy 6. Lina Sabaliauskaitė Student of faculty of Agronomy A brief justification of need of the study program: Plant biotechnology is developing very rapidly, in recent years. There is needed a lot of knowledge for a fundamental research of modern plant biotechnology, which, by their very nature, are: science synthesis of genetics, plant physiology, biology, etc. The researches of plant biotechnology are conducted at Lithuanian Agrarian Forest Science Center, Institute of Botany, Institute of Biotechnology, Aleksras Stulginskis University. Further development of plant biotechnology lacks highly qualified professionals. The Master s degree study program Agrobiotechnology gives a possibility to prepare highly skilled masters of biotechnology that creates a presumption for the development of plant biotechnology in Lithuania. After completing their studies, eperts realize competencies in areas of plant physiology biotechnology, cell biology, molecular biology, genetic engineering, plant breeding, seed meristem GMO development application.

Requirements for an admission: - After the first cycle (Bachelor) studies of biology or agronomy directions; - After the first cycle (Bachelor) studies other directions of technology or biomedical sciences have completed passed s of basics of biology agronomy /or special education subjects, with a total of not less than 30 credits. - After college studies (professional Bachelor) have had at least one year work eperience after college degree have completed supplementary studies under the directions of biology agronomy programs. Career further study options: Graduates of Agrobiotechnology study program are offered careers of eperts /or managers/leaders in research study institutions of agrarian biological profile, in agricultural business companies, industrial agricultural biotechnology companies, consulting epertise services related international organizations, in other governmental public institutions organizations. Graduates may continue their studies in the third cycle (Doctoral studies).
