02 History 1999 The National Bank launches National Bank Discount Brokerage Inc. to take over the Investel discount brokerage service. National Bank Securities, which until then had administered InvesTel, is now free to focus exclusively on the National Bank Funds family. 1987 1988 1989 1990 1991 1992 1993 1994 1995 1996 1997 1987 National Bank Securities Inc. is founded to provide discount brokerage, mutual fund and immigrant investor services. 1997 Investel launches its first transactional website. 2003 1988 Two divisions are created within National Bank Securities Inc. One of them, Investel, is entirely dedicated to discount brokerage services. On August 22, 2003, National Bank acquires Altamira Investment Services Inc. This acquisition allows National Bank Direct Brokerage to welcome a new clientele. 2009 Market-Q is launched, thereby providing clients with a powerful platform of market data that allows them to create up to 20 dynamic watch lists, each composed of 200 securities. Clients can now better track the securities of their choosing. 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2011 2008 The company changes its name to better reflect its dynamic. In 2008, it officially adopts the name of. The ETF (exchange-traded funds) Centre is launched and becomes a complete source of information for investors and allows them make more informed decisions, as well as quickly move into action. This new tool allows them to easily find and select ETFs based on several criteria and, invest in the vehicle that is best suited to their needs. The optimized mobile site for smart phones is launched, thus allowing clients to access their accounts and trade directly from their smart phones. 2012 Exceptional strategic tools are implemented, and clients can now receive the Dow Jones Morning Briefing and access Morningstar s research, which complements the National Bank Financial s research. 2010 2011 2012 2013 2013 A new and improved website goes live. The new website guides novice investors along a smart, step-by-step investment path, while continuing to support experienced investors in their research.
03 Nancy Paquet President Supported by a team of more than 130 experts, Nancy Paquet has been presiding over since 2012. In this role, she manages all activities with the mission to provide Canadians a comprehensive direct brokerage solution that allows them to take control of their investments, all the while benefiting from specialized guidance and cutting-edge technology. Lawyer, financial planner and MBA graduate from HEC Montréal, Nancy is a versatile and multidisciplinary leader with solid experience in management, business development, coaching and training, particularly within the financial services industry. Before joining the National Bank team as Regional Vice President, Advisor Distribution in 2007, she practiced business law throughout the 1990 s and gained valuable experience within the finance industry, first as Senior Advisor with Standard Life Investments Limited until 2005, then as Director, Wealth Management for BMO Harris Private Banking. During her career Nancy has been a member of several boards and committees, including those of the Investment Funds Institute of Québec and the Institut québécois de planification financière. She currently sits on the board of the Jean Duceppe Theatre Foundation. In April 2013, Nancy was the proud recipient of the Association des femmes en finance du Québec (AFFQ) s Étoile Montante award.
04 Line de Villers Manager Business Relations Since 2009, Line de Villers is managing more than 50 employees across six distinct departments, including VIP Service, Accounts Opening, Technical Support, Complaints and Regulations, Coaching and Sales Support. In this role, she sees to the quality of service rendered to high net worth clients, business relations with numerous partners, including the legal and operations sectors, as well as budget administration and various other activities. Armed with a Bachelor in Business Administration, Line used her vast knowledge of customer service, process improvement strategies, quality assurance, business intelligence, as well as reputational and risk management skills to set herself apart within the organization. She began leaving her mark across in 1997, when she occupied the role of Investment Agent, Customer Service, and demonstrated the high quality of her customer service. This led her to take on training functions for more than 60 new investment agents. She then moved to the Account Manager, VIP Service position, where she managed large transaction volumes and personalized relationships with more than 80 high net worth clients and portfolio managers over the course of four years. She was later named Sector Manager, Client Contact Centre and for the following two years, oversaw all coaching and competency development initiatives for some twenty brokers, before taking the leadership of the team responsible for process improvements and integrity activities as Sector Manager, Quality Control. Line is an individual who, in addition to exercising a leadership rooted in innovation and collaboration, knows how to efficiently put theories into actions. She was awarded the Reconnaissance trophy at the 2012 Wealth Management Gala.
05 Robert Girard Senior Manager, Business Development Since 2009, Robert Girard has been at the helm of a recognized sales team whose primary objective is to implement various strategies to ensure the growth and prestige of National Bank Direct Brokerage. In this role, Robert has significantly exceeded his financial objectives by increasing sales year after year, both in Québec and across Canada. Equipped with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, Robert has acquired extensive knowledge of the investment industry, as well as numerous years of experience in business development, strategic planning and coaching. Since he joined the National Bank Direct Brokerage team 16 years ago, he has taken on several roles that have led him to his current position as Senior Director. Namely, he has acted as Credit Advisor, Investment Agent and Optimization Manager, and has successfully increased the productivity level of his team through ongoing process improvement initiatives. Before taking on this role, Robert was Sales and Business Development Manager for the network team, where he looked over active investors within the company s high net worth group of clients, as well as promoted National Bank Direct Brokerage throughout the National Bank s branch network. Robert is well known for his communication skills and his dedication to his business partners. He is a member of the team that was awarded the Qualinat 2011 prize, as recognition of the successful reorientation of the firm s sales strategy over the past few years.
06 Véronique Longchamps Manager, Strategy and Projects As Manager, Strategy and Projects, Véronique works is in charge of a multidisciplinary team of fifteen employees responsible for the development and the implementation of special projects that have major impacts on the profitability and efficiency of the organization. She also sees to maintain excellent business relationships with external and internal partners, and sits on National Bank Direct Brokerage s Board of Directors, where she participates in the organization s business plan and strategies. Véronique, who joined the National Bank in 1998, holds a master s degree in Project Management from Université du Québec à Montréal and a bachelor s degree in administration, finance major, from Bishop s University. Over the years, she has risen to many challenges, starting her career as Sales Assistant for National Bank Financial, before joining as Investment Agent in 1999. From there, she proved her determination and perseverance by taking on several roles, including consulting services, complaint management, training and project management. Her customer service abilities, along with her organizational and communication skills, allowed her to carve her path toward the Bank s Operations project team in 2007. In February 2011, she returned to as Senior Advisor, before accepting her current role as Manager, Strategy and Projects. Véronique is well known for her communication skills, her collaborative style and her ability to maintain excellent relationships with business partners. In recognition of her rigor and efficiency, she was awarded the Reconnaissance trophy at the 2012 Wealth Management Gala.
07 Gabriel Dubeau Manager, Investor Services Gabriel Dubeau has been s Manager, Investor Services since 2013 a role in which he manages the Client Services and Network Services teams. In collaboration with external and internal partners, he ensures a top-notch customer service experience in a manner that seeks to optimize our client retention and acquisition ratios. With a bachelor s degree in business management from Université du Québec à Montréal, Gabriel joined the National Bank in 1999. Since, he has worn many hats within, including Investment Agent, Expert Advisor and Sector Manager. He has also acted as Branch Manager for many years, a position that allowed him to become very well versed in the vast array of investment solutions offered by the National Bank, not to mention that he has completed several securities courses in Canada. Gabriel has gained extensive experience in business development, and is recognized for his leadership and coaching abilities. In fact, it s mainly thanks to his management skills that his branch was nominated for Branch of the Year at the MCQ Regional Excellence Gala in 2009. In addition to his current role, Gabriel is involved with a few National Bank committees, and a member of s management committee.
