Overview 02 Wonderware MES/Performance provides overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) monitoring of production lines and machines, combined with equipment utilization (e.g. uptime/downtime) event tracking in real time. The software enables companies to monitor, analyze and continuously improve their operating efficiency and asset utilization to reduce costs and increase their overall return on assets (ROA). SUMMARY Detect, Capture and View Equipment/ Asset Utilization/Events Enable Manual and Automated Data Collection Gain Real-time Visibility to KPIs for Line and Equipment Performance Determine Root-cause Analysis of Capacity Losses BUSINESS VALUE 20-30% average OEE improvements 10-20% average reduction of Equipment Downtime Unlocks the true capacity of existing assets (the hidden factory ) Facilitates Continuous Improvement practices Drive More Value from Your Plant Assets Wonderware MES/Performance integrates with your existing automation systems to generate highly accurate and timely views of equipment performance, including short duration events which typically never get recorded. These short duration events can add a significant amount of downtime - but tracked by Wonderware MES/Performance, you now see the downtime affected and have a path for improvement. Automated equipment efficiency tracking and automatic line bottleneck determination quickly show what plant assets are pulling their weight, and which ones are not. Critical line efficiency and equipment downtime information is communicated in real-time to operators and decision-makers, who can take immediate actions to improve performance and productivity. No more personal opinions or guesstimates, just hard data to base decisions on. With this higher level of insight, you and your staff can quickly identify inefficiencies and attack problem areas which affect line performance and capacity unlocking more value from your existing plant assets.
Features 03 Equipment and Line Performance Management Wonderware MES Software/Performance gives you the ability to collect and store process data to provide you with Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and utilization state information for monitoring and analyzing the operational effectiveness related to assets used in the production process. Wonderware MES Software/Performance is quickly set up by configuring equipment, line layouts, utilization states and reasons in its web-based user interface. A line is easily modeled in a line editor page by dragging and dropping available equipment into a layout that indicates the flow of product. The software is designed to collect plant process information from operators and automated production equipment. It uses work order information entered, or provided from an external system, to accurately calculate the OEE KPI s based on work order start quantities and product-specific target production rates, as well as to track job execution progress.
Features (continued) 04 Line Bottleneck Determination Production line performance is constrained by the line bottleneck equipment, but visibility of the current bottleneck position is often not obvious for operators and might change with events occurring. To track line OEE KPI s, the calculations need to be based on the performance data of the line bottleneck equipment and have to consider the amount of good production at the defined line s production source. Wonderware MES/Performance determines line bottleneck equipment in the following ways: Automatically, by specifying which line entities can be the bottleneck. In this case, the bottleneck equipment will be determined by the system s continuous evaluation of equipment performance rates. Manually, by specifying the bottleneck position when configuring the line. In this case, the specified equipment is always used to set the line s performance amount. The provided line bottleneck determination helps to display the line performancerelevant information to focus the attention of operational teams in addressing those issues which are truly impacting current line performance.
Features (continued) 05 Equipment Utilization Tracking Wonderware MES/Performance tracks equipment utilization by creating an electronic record of different utilization states and attached reasons. Utilization events, such as equipment is started or stopped to run a job, or when the entity goes down for repairs or maintenance, define the reasons for an utilization state change. Utilization events can be captured automatically from control systems or entered manually into the system by production operators, or as a combination of both. Automatic utilization event and reason capturing allows MES/Performance to capture short stoppages and frees up operators from manual data entry tasks. Automatic events may be modified by an operator afterwards to further clarify the reason for the event, including the ability to split an event into one or more additional events. Pareto graphs display rate counts and durations of utilization states and reasons impacting line or equipment performance. Accurate downtime state information helps to rank and analyze the reasons impacting equipment utilization and provides actionable insights for improvement. Any number of utilization reason groups causing a state change for equipment (for example running, idle, in maintenance or down) can be defined to get the most accurate, detailed insights which downtime reasons appear most often, or cause the most down time so you will be able to take immediate decisions to reduce capacity losses. Utilization events can be individually configured to contribute to either the Performance or Availability component of OEE, or to be excluded from the OEE calculation all together.
Features (continued) 06 KPI and Utilization Reporting The entire manufacturing facility operates better when plant personnel at all levels have real-time production information at their fingertips. Wonderware MES/Performance has this covered with a full set of interactive reporting tools delivering real-time information on the following equipment performance measures: Equipment Production Line Production Utilization by Equipment Utilization Analysis OEE Analysis Mean Time Between Failures Mean Time to Repair Utilization Timeline
Features (continued) 07 Web-Based User Interface Wonderware MES/Performance provides ready to use web-based views to line and equipment performance with the KPI measures, including Performance, Quality, Availability, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), as well as information about the work orders that were processed. Access to pages and functions in the MES Web Portal depends on the privileges and line and entity access that have been specified for users and user groups. Users and operators interact with the MES Portal through an HTML5-compatible browser or browser control hosted in any existing HMI software. The IT security and firewall friendly technology reduces implementation and administration efforts, and allows remote access without compromising system security in mission-critical process networks.
