Learning and Teaching Every day, millions of educators worldwide search and download learning content for their courses from one central location: their dedicated EQUELLA. This repository hosts many types of digital learning content, including documents, presentations, videos, podcasts, images, ebooks, journals and more. We now have the ability to catalog, deliver, and update resources from a central location that eases use, storage, organization, and above all offers systemic, focused search results. Jonathon Sweetin, NCLOR System Administrator Learning Resources: Institutions worldwide use EQUELLA to discover, manage and share content including; files (MS Word and Excel, PDF, ZIP), multimedia (movies, audio), images, web links, YouTube videos, Google Books, itunes U tracks, Flickr images, Kaltura videos, ebooks, journals, and learning objects (IMS, SCORM, QTI, METS). Open Educational Resources (OER): EQUELLA enables institutions to power teaching and learning repositories by sharing access to OER. Content without Borders is an open access EQUELLA repository that provides access to over 950,000 educational resources contributed by academic institutions and repositories from around the world. Content Authoring: Effectively creating and managing online course content, EQUELLA provides numerous tools for institutions to author content. Syllabi: Creating consistency across a whole program, EQUELLA develops a standard process and template for course syllabi, generating a final document that can be accessed by the program s educators and students.

Library EQUELLA enables libraries to address the challenges associated with managing collections, the need for digital preservation, and controlled access. Library Catalog: Includes book and journal collections which contain copyright, a record of content items, and a simplified process for metadata: title, author/editor details. Users can search Z39.50 library servers via different content types. Theses Collections: EQUELLA targets the business rules associated with thesis contribution management, with functionality that supports the process of submission and evaluation including contribution, workflow steps, and the assignment of tasks to internal and external staff and examiners. ereserve: Institutions can manage online IP restricted content more effectively, while ensuring it is protected by copyright acts, and that communication and reporting on usage of content is restricted. Copyright EQUELLA presents institutions with the ability to effectively manage copyright compliant content and produce appropriate reports as evidence for presentation to the dedicated copyright agencies. Activate specific sections of books and journals such as chapters and articles for particular periods of time against a course, aligning to specific regional copyright laws Track content usage and the number of enrolled users against the activated items and report in the CAL format

Research Enabling open access to research content, EQUELLA ensures high accessibility and availability, as well as wider global dissemination of research publications. This increases the overall outreach of research content, which is securely protected through built-in digital rights management and copyright compliancy capabilities. EQUELLA offers a flexible way of managing, sharing and showcasing research and teaching materials. It strengthens the link between teaching and research, allowing the University to make the most of its digital assets. Rowena Rouse, RADAR Team Member, Oxford Brookes University Oxford Brookes University uses EQUELLA to power its Research Archive and Digital Assets Repository (RADAR). RADAR supports two key strategies: improving the learners learning experience and providing better access to the University s research outputs. The University strives for high quality research. Making its research publicly available through EQUELLA will increase the number of citations, providing more funding to the institution. The repository also supports the University s strategy for creating a strong connection between teaching and research to more effectively address the needs of the learner. Visit RADAR as a guest at www.brookes.ac.uk/go/radar Research Materials: EQUELLA delivers ongoing storage and management of research materials, including articles, conference papers, thesis and research data, and information. EQUELLA also provides users with secure storage options, allowing for the restriction of access and permissions. Archives: EQUELLA has been used for the preservation and archiving of reference documents, including records, publications and images, as well as other content in educational institutions worldwide.

Institutional Governance Internal Document Management: With EQUELLA, institutions can easily and effectively monitor and measure access and usage of internal digital assets to ensure all resources are being used appropriately and where most relevant. Campus Synchronization: The EQUELLA synchronization agent delivers content to campus or regional hubs for an institution with a multi-campus structure. Content contributed to one EQUELLA will be automatically synchronized to all other locations. After a long search comparing all of our options in a repository system, our task force was confident in selecting EQUELLA, and we remain excited about expanding the role of EQUELLA in the future in terms of document management. Patricia Bassett, Director of Online Learning, Palm Beach Atlantic University Analytics: A robust reporting engine, coupled with Google Analytics, allows both educators and administrators to track the use of content in many ways, including monitoring site traffic and providing metrics for site development, while reviewing user information for all logged in users. Consortia Content Exchange: A multi-institution consortia can share content across a developed common curriculum that enables broader collaboration. ecommerce: The EQUELLA Content Exchange provides a platform to share and sell content between EQUELLA instances. Private exchanges within a consortium, free exchanges of OER resources, and various ecommerce models can now all be powered by EQUELLA. Resources can be provided free of charge, sold outright, or by subscription.

Take your EQUELLA one step further. Seamless integration with a variety of third-party systems enables institutions to maintain a centralized approach in the creation, management, and delivery of online content with EQUELLA. Simultaneously integrate EQUELLA with several different systems, so that a single piece of content can be accessed by users using different integrated applications across multiple campuses at the same time. The app enables users to view resources owned by the logged in user, as well as notifications and tasks. Echo360 An educator can use Echo360 to record and store a lecture, which is coded into different formats, and published into EQUELLA. Once populated into EQUELLA, the content reference can be linked into the many LMSes and portals with which EQUELLA integrates, along with any other content available in EQUELLA. The application will then stream the media from Echo360. Assessment EQUELLA extends the learning experience with QTI assessment support that enables users to manage and share assessments in EQUELLA, deliver them through a variety of LMSes and record the learner s progress in the LMS Gradebook. Kaltura The Kaltura integration enables users to upload and distribute streamed audio and video content via EQUELLA. The integration will support uploading and encoding of audio and video content from EQUELLA and playback through the repository or an integrated LMS. All users can also record via webcam and upload a selection to a Kaltura player during contribution.

Testimonials Educators can create online instructional materials, complete training programs, access library materials and engage in discussion on educational issues and topics. This has led to increased coordination and communication in the area of online learning from across the state, K-12 through higher education. Statewide Education Visionary We needed a way to develop reusable courses, with emphasis placed on consistency of content, scalability and usage across platforms, along with outcomes-based learning approaches. We found our solution in EQUELLA a digital repository that facilitates creating, editing, tracking and reporting of course content usage. Technology Guru EQUELLA facilitates more productive and beneficial use of resources, as well as more efficient management, less duplication and avoidance of the time-consuming process of locating resources stored in disparate locations. This allows for maximization of resources across the institution, both content and personnel. Learning Outcomes Driver No more trying to make do with just the content that I ve taught thus far. Now I find the content being used most effectively and efficiently to improve student engagement and performance across our program, and use this content to enhance my own courses. One Central Repository for a Diverse Range of Content Managing the entire media production workflow within our EQUELLA learning object repository, which is linked to our learning management system, provides centralized access to and storage for valuable learning assets. Otherwise, what we d have is a video here, a half-finished video there, which results in assets being lost, misplaced or under-utilized.
