Relevant to the atmosphere and the repair shop: coolant for the HVAC module According to EU directives, since January 1, 2011, HVAC modules for new, type-tested vehicles may only contain coolants with a GWP (Global Warming Potential) of less than 150. From January 1, 2017, onward, this applies to all newly registered vehicles. HFO-1234yf is a coolant that meets these requirements. Because HVAC modules cannot simply be changed over from the old to the new coolant, however, the coolants in common use, such as R-134a, will remain in use for many years. Repair shops must therefore be equipped to handle both coolants. Service units for both variants are thus available from MAHLE Aftermarket at Behr Service. Important: Please check the gas used in the connected HVAC module, using the measurement sensors fitted in the unit, prior to refilling the HVAC module. Using a coolant that the HVAC service unit is not designed for may lead to a defect.
