Program Proposal Proposal for the following courses: Communication Skills for Leaders Learning to Lead

Communication Skills for Leaders Course Outline San Antonio College Continuing Education BMGT 1091 CIP: 52.1001 8 clock hours Course Description: Communication is a basic skill that affects all aspects of business life. Our words, gestures, appearance, and body language all "speak" volumes as to our intent, state of mind, and attitude. Learning to recognize these conscious and unconscious cues, as well as paying attention to others' signals, make us better communicators and leaders. The course will review the nine behavioral skills for effective communication, and ways you can improve in each area. This class awards.8 CEUs. Learning Outcomes:. Understand the importance of interpersonal communication skills to becoming a leader. Convey believability by ensuring the verbal, vocal, and visual elements of their communications deliver a consistent message. Replace negative or neutral habits with those that will improve their interpersonal effectiveness Course Requirements: Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at all classes is required. Any student who is absent for any reason is responsible for work missed, if the student is retained in the class. Students must attend 80% of the scheduled class. Both tardiness and early departure from class are forms of absenteeism. The instructor establishes the policy regarding tardiness. In case of cancelled class due to inclement weather or other emergencies, every attempt will be made to reschedule classroom hours.
