3 Sample Trainings We develop our trainings using contemporary theory, modern practices, proven techniques, and action based learning. Please note: This sampling of trainings is not exhaustive. Please contact us to learn how we can help you with your specific training needs. Participants will take part in a study of written communication and its power in the workplace. With an emphasis on the four C s of good writing, active vs. passive voice, business letters, inclusive language, and written structure, participants will create business writing and analyze it according to the four major steps of the writing process. This training will also concentrate on effective s, memos, and report writing. Have you ever wondered why people really listen to one person and not to another? Why some people convey confidence and others show the opposite? Much of what people learn about others is gathered through interpretating body language and facial expressions. This course engages the participant in activities and theories that focus on: interpersonal relations, positive self image, motivation, keys to confidence, effective body language, eye contact, and active listening. This course teaches participants, skills and techniques to manage effective verbal communication. Content focus includes: face to face business conversations, office talk, self-monitoring, positive self-talk, telephone and cell phone etiquette including techniques for dealing with difficult clients, active listening skills, and voice intonation and modulation. Pitching a plan or presenting a concept effectively can be a challenging and even nerve wracking event. With the right skills, confidence, and practice, presentation fears can be overcome. This course focuses on: communication skills, what to do in tricky situations, the advantages of giving an oral presentation, planning your presentation, overcoming nervousness, The STARR pattern, ways to limit your information, understanding audience profile, and more. Every day we make dozens of decisions, each with varying degrees of importance. In this course you will learn and use helpful logical steps to solve problems, and create informed solutions to make decisions. Topics covered in this class include: labeling the problem, styles of solving problems, solving models, six ways to approach a decision, a problem solving toolkit, and thinking outside the box.
4 This course enables participants to explore the concept of communicating and working in a team. This course engages participants in activities that focus on: organizational theory, types of teams, stages of team development, shared leadership, communication skills, managing team conflict, obtaining consensus, and the trust/relationship model. When things at work don t go as planned, anger can rear its ugly head. When it does, it is our job to manage it effectively. In this course participants will define anger, understand its benefits, recognize distorted thinking and behavior types, use attentive listening skills in order to manage reactions, and effectively release angry feelings. Participants will explore these techniques and others to help them better manage anger in the workplace. The way we use our emotional intelligence or EI defines who we are and how we work with others. This course covers a range of topics and skills that participants will use to understand their own EI. Items include: history of emotional intelligence, optimism, the seven human emotions, understanding your personal vision, alligning your values, principles, and strengths, and validating emotions of others.
5 Soft Skills are: Our body language and the way we hold ourselves Our mannerisms Our appearance and the way we dress The way we speak The way we listen The way we write The way others perceive our message Our social and professional etiquette and ethics Our rapport with people Our personal hygiene Our ability to lead or to follow as the situation demands Our ability to work in teams and groups The way we use our phones and other technologies Our enthusiasm and commitment The way we manage our time The way we define and solve problems The way we deal with stress and conflict Soft skills are what we show the world of ourselves, they are everything about us that is not a technical or hard skill. People form their opinions and impressions of us mainly based on our soft skills or lack there of. Soft skills are the driving force behind the way we work. When these skills are honed great employees, leaders, and companies thrive. Phone: missmiller@missmillersinstitute.com
