Configuration of Applied VoIP Sip Trunks with the Toshiba CIX40, 100, 200 and 670

Businesses Save Money with Toshiba s New SIP Trunking Feature Unlike gateway based solutions, Toshiba s MIPU/ GIPU8 card with SIP trunking costs less and allows SIP Trunking to be supported natively in the phone system along with remote IP phones, softphones, WiFi phones, IP based voicemail and IP based ACD applications. SIP Trunking allows the CIX to get more robust services than PRI from Applied VoIP s SIPconnect compliant SIP Trunk services. Small businesses that would like for all their employees to have their own telephone numbers (DIDs), but do not need 30 lines, now have a cost-effective and more feature rich solution. With Applied VoIP s SIP Trunking service, they can have as little as six SIP trunks and get DIDs for all their employees. Furthermore, direct IP peering via SIP trunking enables Toshiba resellers / Applied VoIP partners to offer more robust features than PRI. SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is an application layer protocol used for establishing sessions in an IP network. SIP is a very rich and extensible protocol and, similar to HTTP and SMTP. SIP is a text-based protocol. SIP Trunking harnesses the power of the SIP protocol to route the call over Applied VoIP s VoIP network and will send the call to another Applied VoIP location or route it to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) when appropriate. Toshiba implements SIP Trunking using our new MIPU/GIPU8 card. The MIPU/GIPU8 is designed from the ground up as a VoIP card able to support IP stations, Strata Net IP, and now SIP trunking. With the SIP Trunking capability of the new MIPU/GIPU8 card, companies are no longer committed to having to purchase different types of trunk cards and the bundles of physical wires to host analog, PRI and BRI trunks. With the MIPU/GIPU8 implementation of SIP Trunking, companies are able to leverage their existing Toshiba CIX R4.x (and later) PBX systems with just the purchase of MIPU/GIPU8 cards, CIX R5.x software update and corresponding licenses. For companies that already have a networking infrastructure, there are no additional networking devices required to implement SIP Trunking. SIP Trunking from Applied VoIP delivers local and long distance voice service, secure data networking, and broadband Internet access on one performance-guaranteed connection to an office site with Toshiba.

Customers looking for a turnkey access solution can select the Applied VoIP equipment rental option, in which Applied VoIP provides a router that interfaces with your IP phone system equipment. SIP Trunking can help your business if you need: High-performance IP-based voice, MPLS VPN and Internet service. Efficient dynamically-managed bandwidth. Robust control of network call handling and other service features. Packaged pricing and the convenience of one provider. Solution Features Real-time Web-based control of your network services from any Internet connected PC. o Re-route inbound calls from one location to another on the Applied VoIP IP based network, without long distance charges. o Balance the number of incoming calls to available staff and send overflow to voicemail, an answering service, or to another location. o Restrict specific types of calls to or from your business by area code, number or call type. High speed data connections; you choose your bandwidth. Dynamic bandwidth allocation optimizes performance. Free unlimited site-to-site calling to other SIP Trunking and Dynamic Integrated Access locations. Gateway access to the Public Switched Telephone Network. Ample scalability and flexibility.

MIPU/GIPU8 SIP Trunking implementation Benefits IP stations, Strata Net IP networking and SIP Trunking can all be hosted using the same MIPU/GIPU8 card. The MIPU/GIPU8 card comes in a 16 channel version and the new 24 channel version without having to use a daughter-board. SIP Trunking using the MIPU/GIPU8 replaces having to purchase analog trunk cards, PRI and BRI cards. The MIPU/GIPU8 SIP Trunk is scalable. Simply add additional MIPU/GIPU8 cards as your needs grow. For companies with an existing network infrastructure, there is no additional networking hardware to purchase to implement SIP Trunking using the MIPU/GIPU8 card. One MIPU/GIPU8 card can be configured for multiple service providers simultaneously. System Requirements CIX Hardware: CIX-40, CIX-100, CIX-200, CIX-670 CIX Software: R5.2 MT22 or higher MIPU: MIPU01_24 or higher GIPU8 (CIX40 only) emanager: V5.00 A10 or higher Service provider: Applied VoIP Soft Switch: Stratus Entice License: SIP Trunk License

Special Notes The Toshiba Strata CIX uses G.711 for fax. The CIX does not support SIP Asserted Identity (RFC3325). As a result of this the Toshiba Strata CIX does not support Calling Number Privacy on Toshiba Strata CIX originated calls. Translate 10 digit called number to private extension. When CIX receives the call, CIX treats last 7 digits of called number as DID number. The destination of CIX is mapped by DID number Note: Due to inhomogeneous hardware standards among fax machines and also among customer-provided equipment such as PBX's, fax is inherently unreliable. No guarantees can be given for functionality or reliability even in the PSTN between any two locations with any two models of fax machine connected to any two PBX's. NOTE: The interconnection between the SIP Phone connected directly with the SIP Network is not recommended Overview The Toshiba SIP Trunking implementation is provided through the use of the MIPU or GIPU8 card. There are two versions of the MIPU card: MIPU16 and the MIPU24. Other than the number of IP channels (16 or 24), there are no other architectural difference between the two cards. The GIPU8 card is the same architecture as the MIPU card but provides for only 8 IP channels. There is no need to buy separate MIPU/GIPU8 cards for each service provider. Each MIPU/GIPU can handle multiple service providers as shown in the Programming section. Signaling and Media Ports: The following signaling and media ports must be open. o Signaling SIP 5060 o Media UDP 16384 to 32767 (RTP)

SIP Trunking Network Configuration Example Applied VoIP Applied VoIP Applied VoIP or Customers Router

Programming Programming the MIPU card 1. Set the card type for the slot holding the MIPU. 2. Choose the type of MIPU for use in the system. The number of channels entered must match the number of channels on the card.

Programming the Incoming Line Group For SIP Trunk programming you start with an ILG and OLG assignment. For ILG Programming create an ILG group (9). FB01-Trunk type- select SIP. FB03-CO service type- DID. FB11-Number of DID Digits- number of incoming digits to use from the dialed number to route the call. (Count from the least significant digit side.)

Programming the DDI numbers DID routing must be set up to route incoming SIP calls to their desired destinations. That programming is the same as any other trunk group type. If the DID routing is not set up, incoming Invites will fail instantly. The SIP telephone number supplied is for example 0290371220 therefore the last 7 digits of 0371220 is created as a DDI number Note SIP Trunking requires a license for each trunk. No channel group can successfully be programmed without a license. Sip Trunking is supported by the MIPU/GIPU8 card only. It can share connections of its ports between stations and IPTs and other IPU devices. The IPTs are the only devices that are flexibly assignable. That is, SIP stations, VM ports, SIP trunks and attendant consoles are fixed resources. IPTs do not need to be fixed assignments (unless they have an assigned equipment number, not 0000).

Programming the Outgoing Line Group 1. Create a new OLG and designate it as SIP (9) 2. FB01-Group type SIP. 3. The rest can be left as default.

Creating the Channel Group 1. Go to IP Telephony SIP Trunking. The first tab is Channel Group setting Program 326. 2. Create Channel Group (9) [Example use only]. 3. FB01- MIPU/GIPU8 Equipment Number- 0107 (four digits only). 4. FB02- LAN interface number = 1 (MIPU/GIPU8 only has one interface). 5. FB03 StrataNet Channels The TOTAL number of ports on this card that are going to be dedicated to SIP Trunking. On further tabs, each OLG or ILG can be for a different service provider and still be in the same channel group. This entry is the total number of trunks from ALL the service providers 6. FB04- RBT on incoming call- Enable for the CIX to provide RBT (ring back tone).

Service Definition This tab is where the ISP that is providing the SIP trunk service is defined. There may be several ISP s per channel group. 1. Create the Service Kind Table Index - start with index 1 if desired. 2. FB01 Registration Mode: None (for SIP Trunks) or Client (for SIP Endpoints) 3. FB02 ILG: Use the previously created ILG number. 4. FB03 OLG: Use the previously created OLG Number. 5. FB04 Effective Channel Number: Number of SIP trunks the customer ordered from Applied VoIP. 6. FB05 Domain Name: 202.83.183.33 (Applied VoIP SIP Proxy IP Address). 7. FB06 SIP Server: 202.83.183.33 (Applied VoIP SIP Proxy IP Address). 8. FB12 Network Transfer: Enable. 9. FB35 SIP Server IP Address. 10.FB36 -- SIP Server IP Address. 11. FB37 SIP Server IP Address. 12. FB38 SIP Server IP Address. 13. These are the only mandatory program entries. The rest can be default for now.

Service Assignment This tab must be completed before entries can be made on the next tab. If not completed, entries attempted in the URI tab will not save. Important! After URI entries are made in URI tab changing this program will DELETE all the URI s programmed. Once this is set, do not change it. 1. FB01 Channel Group (9 in this example) 2. FB02 Select the Service No by clicking on one of the table s line entries. Use the drop down box to select the ISP to which the URIs belong. This is to match the service kind table index number of the desired ISP. The (URI) tab is where the URIs (directory numbers) will be entered. 1 13

URI Programming The SIP URI is effectively the Telephone Number (TN) that Applied VoIP is going to provide. Basically, the MIPU/GIPU8 is going to register each TN using the same authentication credentials (FB03 and FB04). When the URI TN is dialed (from outside), Applied VoIP will send a SIP INVITE just as if it were a call to a SIP station. FB00 URI Service Index: The service Kind index that defines the ISP. For instance, the service kind is Applied VoIP select 1 that we defined earlier P327. Here you will enter the TNs provided from Applied VoIP. 1. FB01 Index: Click the index line in the table to select one of the indexes 1-160. Now proceed to fill in the URI data 2. FB02 SIP URI: This will be the TN of the URI 3. FB03 SIP URI User Name: This will be the TN of the URI. 4. FB04 -- SIP URI Password.: Leave blank for SIP Trunks (or use password for SIP Endpoints). 5. FB05 -- Channel Group Number- this will be filled in automatically when the ADD button is clicked. It cannot be filled in manually. 6. FB06 Select MAIN. Important! URIs will register as soon as they are Added or Modified. Otherwise all the URI will register when the MIPU is reset.

Configuring the MIPU 1. Go to IP Telephony IPU config. Here you will program the public IP address for the MIPU card no interface to the SIP trunk provider. 2. FB01 = IP address. Test with a public IP address first. 3. FB02 = Subnet Mask. As applicable. 4. FB03 = Default Gateway Address. From IT department. 5. There is only one interface on an MIPU so skip the second interface programming. 6. FB21 = MIPU DHCP Server set to Disable (not required) 7. FB22 & FB23 leave in default (not required)
