Tom Wong: Immigration, Deportation, and Voter Mobilization Uses non-partisan voter mobilization experiments to increase election turnout among immigrant and minority low-propensity voters
David Lake: Private authorities and global governance Madison believed the government could be controlled through institutional checks and balances, but it is private authorities churches, corporations, unions that constrain state power. What is the structure of private authority at the global level? How does the relative absence of private authorities affect prospects for global governance?
Zoltan Hajnal: Minority Representation Examines minority representation in California over time. To what degree are Blacks, Latinos, and Asian Americans represented in key elected offices from the local level to the Congressional level? How well do minority votes translate into electoral outcomes?
Marissa Abrajano: Understanding the Latino Vote Explaining the issues around which Latinos mobilize, and how immigration influences White voters
Thad Kousser: Local and State Elections Examines candidate Twitter accounts to determine positive vs. negative campaigning, and how candidates respond to current events.
Claire Adida: Immigrant Integration Around the World Examines patterns of integration vs. non-integration for African immigrants in the U.S., in particular the relationship between 2 nd generation African immigrants and African-Americans.
