VOLVO XC90 FEATURE EXPLANATION CITY SAFETY WITH FRONT COLLISION WARNING AND AUTOBRAKE Included as standard in your all-new XC90 is City Safety, which senses potential collisions, even when it is dark, and can activate the brakes automatically should you not react in time. City Safety provides three levels of intervention; warning, brake support and autonomous braking and uses a complex array of instruments and sensors to constantly monitor surrounding conditions. PEDESTRIAN AND CYCLIST DETECTION The groundbreaking Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection technology detects and automatically brakes for pedestrians or cyclists swerving out in front of the car. The advance sensor system scans the area ahead and will prompt you to act with a flashing warning light on the windscreen, along with an audible alarm. If you do not react to the warning, and a collision is imminent, the car immediately brakes will full braking force. REAR COLLISION MITIGATION Rearward facing radar detects if a rear impact is imminent, and safety belts are tightened in advance in order to protect the occupants. Lights also start flashing to warn the driver behind and brakes are activated to help reduce the impact. DRIVER ALERT CONTROL WITH LANE DEPARTURE WARNING Cameras constantly monitor the XC90's position on the carriageway, warning the driver - by audible sound - if roadside markings are crossed without obvious reason such as the use of the turn indicator. And if the Driver Alert Control determines a deterioration in driving behaviour, a warning sound and display message encourages the driver to take a break. ROAD SIGN INFORMATION The all-new XC90 can also help you stay informed by displaying road sign information within your instrument display. This function also has the ability to warn the driver should the vehicle exceed the current road speed limit. ACTIVE HIGH BEAM This feature enables the car itself to switch between low and high beam when oncoming traffic approaches. INTELLISAFE PRO This pack contains a number of invaluable features. Adaptive Cruise Control maintains the desired set vehicle speed but utilises radar to monitor the vehicle in front and automatically slows down or speeds up as necessary. Pilot Assist helps keep the car moving at low speeds in traffic (up to 31mph) and maintains a set distance to the vehicle in front as well as providing gentle steering assistance to remain in lane. At higher speeds, the Lane Keeping Aid warns the driver by haptic response when the car is about to cross a white line. Finally, the Blind Spot Information System and Cross Traffic Alert radar functions provide information to the driver about vehicles approaching from the side - useful when joining a motorway from a slip road, for example - and traffic approaching from the sides and rear, for example when reversing out of a parking space. PARK ASSIST PILOT This function takes over the steering of the car leaving the driver to follow the instructions provided in the instrument cluster with regards to acceleration, braking and selection of gears. In addition to automatic parallel parking, parking at 90º to road is also supported. VISUAL PARK ASSIST 360º During low speed manoeuvres, the Visual Park Assist 360º provides the driver with additional information relating to the car's surroundings. A birds-eye view of the car is provided via four hidden cameras, digitally stitched together to create a seamless image in the centre screen. FOUR CORNER ELECTRONIC AIR SUSPENSION Featuring up to five different modes according to personal preferences, air suspension also ensures that the vehicle remains level irrespective of passenger and load configuration. At high speeds, the car automatically lowers the suspension for increased stability and reduced fuel consumption returning to a regular ride-height as speed reduces. RUN-OFF ROAD PROTECTION Should your vehicle inadvertently leave the road, the front seat belts are automatically tightened whilst the front seat frames contain a collapsible section designed to reduce vertical forces by up to one third - thus reducing the likelihood of spinal injuries. AUTOBRAKE AT JUNCTIONS Should your XC90 detect that you have turned in front of an oncoming vehicle (at a junction or intersection for example) the brakes will be automatically applied in order to mitigate the risk of a collision.
