QUALIFICATIONS FOR EXCHANGE (INBOUND) Students must be in their senior year of the school s MBA program. Students must have two years of full-time, professional work experience. Students must be proficient in English. Students who are not native speakers of English must have English language proficiency equivalent to a 600/250 TOEFL score. QUALIFICATIONS FOR EXCHANGE (OUTBOUND) Must be in the Top 40% of the class (Terms 1&2) NO FAILURES NO Dysfunctional Behavior *** All foreign nationals studying in AIM MUST have a valid Student Visa. VISA/IMMIGRATION Those entering the Philippines with a twenty-one (21) day tourist visa need to pay PHP 9,230 (approximately US$ 215) to change the validity of the visa. For more information, please refer to the AIM MBA brochure which is available at your school s exchange program office or you can visit the AIM website at: www.aim.edu. LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION English COURSE LOAD & CREDITS Exchange students are required to take a minimum of 5 courses and maximum of 14 units of electives. Classes run for 13 weeks and each subject course are held for 80 minutes per session. Class Format: AIM uses the case method, which means students are expected to participate actively in live, extemporaneous discussion. For most courses, class participation accounts for more than 50% of the total grade. Students may also be asked to perform field research by hands-on field projects. Students may be sent to corporate internships. Management games and simulations are also used. The AIM culture emphasizes analysis of facts, exploration of alternative courses of action, and simulates real life managerial decision-making experiences. LEARNING METHODOLOGY Attendance: ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. Students are responsible for not exceeding the 20% limit. Class Participation: Public class participation is encouraged. The percentage varies, but class participation counts for at least 50% of students final grades. Dress Code: ALL CLASSES SHOULD BE REGARDED AS FORMAL BUSINESS MEETINGS. EVERYONE IS THEREFORE EXPECTED TO BE APPROPRIATELY ATTIRED. SHORTS, T-SHIRTS WITH LOUD OR OFFENSIVE STATEMENT, TANK TOPS AND SLIPPERS/FLIP-FLOPS ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE AIM. GRADES: Grades are based on class participation (at least 50% in most subjects), quizzes, examinations, group reports and presentations, and attendance. EXAMS: Exams are given on a case-to-case basis. In lieu of exams, students are required to submit group projects, individual reflection papers and reports. SCHOOL FACILITIES: Classrooms: Amphitheater-type case rooms with modern audiovisual and multimedia equipment. Network computing: The entire AIM campus is broadband and WIFI-ready (802.11b). Public PCs are available throughout the campus for e-mail and surfing. Library: Houses books and periodicals, including a World Bank collection, management research reports, and an integrated database catalog. Cafeteria: Serves local, international and vegetarian food. Location: AIM is at the center of Makati, the Philippines business district, and is adjacent to the old city of Manila. Makati is a safe, clean city, and AIM students are within short walks of Greenbelt and Glorietta (myayala.com) malls, which offer complete, state-of-the-art dining, shopping, theater, and recreational facilities. Housing: Upon arrival, you may stay at the AIM Conference Center Manila (ACCM) while you find off-campus accommodations. Please email Ms. Duds Clavo de Comer at lclavodecomer@aim.edu for ACCM room reservation and rates. AIM Dormitory: The dorm is located on campus and can accommodate 260 students. A suite with two rooms and a common study area is occupied by six students, (three students per room). Exchange students must reserve ahead to assure bed space. The dormitory is usually 100% occupied. The monthly fee for a dormitory space is approximately US$ 300. Students must arrange their own housing, but the Student Services and Dorm Office will provide assistance if necessary. Off-Campus Most exchange students choose to live off campus. Pension houses, apartments, & studio-type rooms within walking distance to AIM are available. These accommodations usually range from US$ 400 to US$ 600 monthly. FALL TERM (September December ) ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION DATE/S Exchange Nomination Deadline Exchange Application Deadline Expected Arrival Date Student Exchange Coordinator from partner school must send a nomination email to Ms. Katrina Afable at kafable@aim.edu Email must include the student s name, nationality, birth date, gender, email address and a copy of the student s resume. Application Requirements: 1. Completed two-page application with student s signature 2. Completed ID sheet 3. 2X2 picture in.jpg format (white background, full-face and facing front) 4. Clear copy of the student s passport information page 5. A recent copy of the student s school transcript, in English 6. Verification of English proficiency Preferably one week before orientation day, to allow enough time to decide on accommodations and see AIM campus and surroundings. Orientation Day Attendance is mandatory. Course Registration Academic Classes (13 Weeks) Asian Study Tour Student Activities Course registration is scheduled 2 months before the start of the term. The list of elective courses and link for online registration will be sent through email. The course correction period is from September 1-2 only. Case methodology students discuss real organization / company scenario in class. Class participation comprises 50% of students final grade. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. Absences of over 20% of total number of class sessions result in a failing mark. Class size: maximum of 60 students. Five (5) elective courses required and maximum of 14 units of electives. Students may join the Asian Study Tour elective which will bring them to Asian countries and visit Asian industries and companies.
