1 Notes The installation of the Statistica Document Management System (SDMS) entails two parts: 1) server installation and 2) workstation installations on client computers. Installation of SDMS requires Windows TM Vista, Windows 2003, or later. The installation of SDMS does not require that Statistica software be installed on the system. 4

2 Server Installation 1. Server installation requires Internet Information Services (IIS). Indexing Service is required for versions of Windows older than Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8. These Windows Features should be activated via the Control Panel: select Add or Remove Programs (Windows Server 2003) or Programs and Features (Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008, or Windows 2012), and then select Turn Windows features on or off (in the Control Panel Home pane on the left) before beginning the server installation. For the full list of required IIS sub-features, see the IIS requirements section at the end of this document. 2. Ensure that no other applications are running. 3. If you have a DVD, insert it into a reader, or download the program from support.software.dell.com, and then double-click Setup.exe to begin the server installation process (must run with administrator rights). 4. The Welcome dialog box is displayed. Click the Next button. 5. In the Setup Type dialog box, you are prompted to select the installation type. Install both SDMS Server and Client: If you want to be able to access SDMS on the server, the client graphical user interface (GUI) must be installed on the server. Consequently, select the Install both SDMS Server and Client option button, and click the Next button. Install SDMS Server: If you do not want to access SDMS on the server, select the Install SDMS Server option button, and click the Next button. 6. In the SDMS Key and Install Code dialog box, enter the 5-digit SDMS key, 10-digit install code, and serial number provided by Dell. Click the Next button. 7. In the License Agreement dialog box, select I agree to the terms of the license agreement and click the Next button to agree with the licensing terms and proceed with the installation. 8. In the Setup Type dialog box, select the Typical option button to install standard program features. Click the Next button. 9. In the SDMS Database Install Type dialog box, select whether you want to create a new SDMS database or use an existing SDMS database. 10. In the Database Management System Selection dialog box, select the database management system of your choice. SQL Server: In the Data Link Properties dialog box, on the Connection tab, enter or select the server name where the SQL Server database is located, enter the information required to gain access to the server, and select the database on the server where the SDMS schema will be applied. If a specific DB user name is specified, be sure to select the Allow saving password check box. Oracle: In the Data Link Properties dialog box, on the Connection tab, enter the name of the server where the Oracle database is located and enter the information required to gain access to the database. 11. Click Test Connection to ensure that the connection information is correct. 12. If the test connection is successful, click the OK button to apply the connection information. If the test is unsuccessful, verify that the connection information is correct and try again. 13. If installing to a new database, the database tables and views will be processed at this time. 14. You are prompted to register your license with Dell. Fill in the requested information and click the Next button. Note that all fields are required. 15. You are given the option of either automatically sending the licensing information to Dell by email or manually sending the registration information file to Dell after the installation. The initial installation will include a license file that is set to expire 14 days after installation. Once the licensing information is 5

received and processed by Dell, you will receive an email containing your full and complete licensing for the entire timeframe of your licensing period. Automatically email licensing information to StatSoft: Select this option and click the Next button. You may be prompted by your email client that an application is trying to send email. Click Yes to allow the email to be sent. Otherwise, if an email client is not available on the server, the manual option is recommended. Manually email the registration file after installation: Select this option and click the Next button. You will be prompted for a location to save the registration information. Select the location and click the Next button. 16. In the Ready to Install the Program dialog box, click the Install button to install files and process other system updates as required. A progress bar will be shown advising on the status of the installation process. 17. Once complete, you will be prompted to finish the installation. Click the Finish button to complete. If necessary, the installation process may require a reboot of the operating system (i.e., for installing XML Parser). The reboot (if prompted) is required before using SDMS. Note that a default account is set up within SDMS with user name admin and password abcdef. To use this admin account, click the No button when you see Would you like to use integrated Windows login. 6
