The process provides the ability to fully restore Exchange to a point-in-time or to the point immediately before a failure. Exchange is restored to the last snapshot prior to the failure and then the transaction logs are automatically replayed, which simplifies the operation, reduces human error, and provides protection for mission-critical data. Accommodate Shrinking Backup Windows Protecting data with a well-designed backup strategy is essential in enterprise-class environments; however, the backup process places additional requirements on the server and can negatively impact system performance. VERITAS Edition for Microsoft Exchange 2000 offers administrators the ability to create point-in-time snapshots with minimal impact to Exchange or system performance. Once the snapshots are created, they can be exported to another host for backup, which eliminates the performance impact and allows the Exchange server to remain dedicated to Exchange processing. gives administrators the ability to automate off-host backup of Exchange servers.
