1 YEARS 7 12 It is with pleasure that we encourage your students of Italian to enter an original poem into the Original Poetry Competition. The suggested topics for this year for students in Yrs 7 12 are : 1. Se fossi un animale sarei L atleta : Oro, Argento, Bronzo 3. Leggere è La crociera 5. Un viaggio indimenticabile/ Un estate indimenticabile 6. I paparazzi e i VIPs 7. Il premio 8. La grandine 9. An ode to an Italian Renaissance artist (e.g. A Michelangelo...A Caravaggio...) Una poesia dedicata alla vita e alle opere dell artista scelto 10. Sono un tipo particolare e ne sono fiero/a 11. 2 Guidelines for students and teachers Teachers please emphasize to your students that the topics are merely that ideas for the poem. THE POEM S FIRST LINE SHOULD NOT BE THE TITLE OF THE POEM Remember, if students prefer they may choose their own topic Entry Fee: $10.00 per student Closing Date: Monday 25 th June, 2012 Guidelines : Poems must be original and written by individual student, not groups. Poems are to be typed on a single sheet of paper. ( We require 1 copy only ) Poems are not to be illustrated. Poems will not be returned. Poems may be used by the Dante Alighieri Society for Publication and Broadcasting. Poems should be clearly labelled with student s name, school, year level and Section Entered* (see below). Each entry will be judged against entries from the same year level. Teachers are asked to group students in year levels and sections ( Italian or Non Italian) on separate entry forms. Sheet 1: year 7 Italian Sheet 2: Year 7 Non Italian Sheet 3: Year 8 Italian etc.. Students who speak or hear Italian spoken at home or who have other regular contact with the Italian language other than tuition received at school must be entered in the Italian section. The Non-Italian section is reserved for students who have no knowledge of the language other than the lesson received at school. Go to page 3 for Remittance and Invoice form.
