1 Backup Child Care Understanding your TripAdvisor child care benefit. Sick kids. School closings. Summer holidays. Balancing work and family priorities can be challenging. Fortunately, Care.com BackupCare, provided by Parents in a Pinch, has partnered with My Family Care in the U.K. You can use their convenient service to find the last-minute in-home care you need. When should I request backup care? During school or bank holidays When your child is a little bit under the weather and you need to work When you have to work late or on weekends When your nanny goes on holiday or leaves unexpectedly For a night out with your spouse or partner Any time you have a gap in your regular child care arrangements What kind of backup care can I request? As a TripAdvisor employee, you have access to two subsidised backup care options, based on your preference and situation: Nursery care for well children, aged 3 months to 5 years, with access to over 800 Ofsted-registered nurseries In-home backup care (nannies) for children from birth to 16 years old
2 When can I call? You can contact My Family Care by phone to request backup child care during the following office hours: Monday Friday, 7:30 am to 7:00 pm. You can also book care online at Sometimes, My Family Care can locate a carer or nursery for you within an hour or two, but the further in advance you call, the better the chances for a successful match. 24-hour advance notice is usually sufficient. What is the process for arranging child care? Pre-register with My Family Care (before you need backup care) at be sure to use your TripAdvisor address. Call My Family Care at to request care, or book online at The agency will identify a nanny or nursery for you who meets your specific needs and you ll receive a confirmation call to tell you about your nanny. For nursery care, you will receive confirmation that the nursery has accepted your booking. How much do I pay? Starting 1 May, 2014, for in-home care, your credit card will be charged the subsidised rate of 6.00 per hour. There is a four-hour minimum charge per day. For nursery care, you will be charged the subsidised rate of per child per day. As an employee of TripAdvisor, you may use up to a combined total of 15 days of child care and adult/elder care per year (effective 1 May, 2014). For nursery care, a day of care is used for each child in a backup child care center. What if I need child care that s not related to work? You are welcome to use the backup services when your need is not work-related. How do I know I ll get a quality carer? The quality of child care is paramount: nanny candidates undergo an extensive screening process to make sure they re experienced, flexible, responsible and nurturing. Care.com BackupCare and My Family Care require a strong caregiving background and recent and excellent references. Candidates must be over 21, demonstrate warmth and flexibility and qualify after an in-person interview. Candidates also complete a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced disclosure and are certified in first aid. Nurseries booked for backup care are regulated by Ofsted, with at least a satisfactory grade. In addition, after each and every job, Care.com BackupCare and My Family Care follow up to ensure that nannies and nurseries are maintaining high standards of care. What if I need to cancel my request for care? There is no charge if care is cancelled up to two working days before the care is set to start. There will be a cancellation fee paid directly to My Family Care if you cancel within two working days of the day of care; four hours plus VAT will be charged per booking. If you cancel on the day of the booking, 100% of the booking is forfeit. If you decide to end the booking more than one hour earlier than originally booked, a charge will still be made for the hours booked but not used. If a nursery booking is cancelled, there is a fee of per day.
3 How can I make the transition easier for my children? Before the nanny arrives, let your children know that a wonderful playmate is on the way. Suggest that they show the carer their favorite toy or book. When the carer arrives, introduce her warmly to the children. If you re nervous, the children will pick up your signals. Go over the house rules TV, snacks, bedtime with the carer and the children together, so that the ground rules are clearly set. Review the emergency telephone numbers with the carer. Give her the number where you and/ or your spouse/partner can be reached, the GP s name and number, someone to call in case of an emergency and a list of any allergies that the children may have. Never sneak out the door! Say good-bye happily and firmly and leave. Coming back or delaying your departure will increase your children s anxiety. When I call next time, can I get the same carer? Will she clean the house? My Family Care strives to give your family as much consistency as possible, and will be happy to contact your last carer to see if she s available. Please contact My Family Care if you would like the nanny to return on another day; the nanny must receive information on her bookings directly from the agency. Backup carers come prepared to make sure your children are safe and happy, but not to do regular housecleaning. Can the nanny pick up my child from Nursery? No. Nurseries will not release children into anyone s care, except the authorised person they have in their records. tripadvisor@myfamilycare.co.uk Call: Care.com BackupCare is provided by Care Concierge, Inc. 4 Backup Adult Care & Eldercare Understanding your TripAdvisor adult and eldercare benefit. Care.com BackupCare, provided by Parents in a Pinch, has partnered with My Family Care in the U.K. to provide in-home backup adult care as one of your employee benefits. Backup adult care services are non-medical, and include both companion and personal care services, such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation, prompting for medication and assistance with bathing, dressing and getting around. For a long-term solution, the Adult and Eldercare Search and Planning service can help you find a permanent placement caregiver. When should I request backup care? When an elderly relative needs immediate post-operative care During the gradual decline of a relative s health When you ve started a new job and have less time to provide care When you re recuperating from an operation When you re managing a relative s transition from their home to a care home When you re living a long way from your dependent
5 Once I ve registered, how quickly can I reserve a backup carer? My Family Care allows you to book domiciliary care across the U.K. for any adult dependent, or even yourself. Fully-regulated regional care agencies make it possible to: Receive a home assessment within 48 hours Reserve a carer with as little as 30 minutes advance notice no matter where care is needed* * The notice period (and the minimum hours you can book for) is only decided after the home assessment with your local care agency. Typically, the minimum booking time is four hours. How can I start setting up backup care? Please get in touch with My Family Care by calling or ing tripadvisor@myfamilycare.co.uk to discuss your or your dependent s needs. Please use your TripAdvisor address when registering. Once you ve registered, you ll be assigned to a local care branch. When care needs to be booked, My Family Care will arrange a home assessment. The central office hours are 7:30 am to 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday. What is the process for arranging care? As a TripAdvisor employee, you re entitled to 15 days of subsidised backup care per calendar year, and you only pay the first 6.00 of each hour (effective 1 May, 2014). The days can be used for either adult or child care. You re also entitled to use the Help Centre, where you ll find free downloads and information. You can also arrange to speak to an expert. To make use of the subsidy, you must book care through the website or by calling but not directly with a care provider. tripadvisor@myfamilycare.co.uk Call: Care.com CarePlanning and BackupCare are provided by Care Concierge, Inc.
