It provides a set of services appropriate to communications between automated equipment and systems that interrogate or control them. Its description of interactions follow the client server model. It is suitable for use over any network that supports full-duplex, reliable communication, such as the Internet.

Establishes a reference model which is then used as the basis for developing a methodology for the identification and extraction of areas for standards. The field of interest is the manufacture of discrete parts and in particular the production of these parts. This model provides a conceptual framework for understanding manufacturing and can be used to identify areas of standards necessary to integrate manufacturing systems.

It is intended for use by stakeholders who are concerned with developing and deploying solutions based on information and communication technology for manufacturing enterprise process interoperability. It focuses on, but is not restricted to, enterprise (manufacturing or service) interoperability.

This International Standard does not define standard enterprise processes, standard enterprises, standard organizational structures, or standard enterprise data. In addition, this International Standard does not specify the enterprise- modeling process, but forms the basis by which enterprise-modeling standards can be developed where they are needed.

The scope of these enterprise-reference reference architectures and methodologies covers those constituents deemed necessary to carry out all types of enterprise creation projects as well as any incremental change projects required by the enterprise throughout the whole life of the enterprise, including a) enterprise creation, b) major enterprise restructuring efforts, and c) incremental changes affecting only parts of the enterprise-life cycle.

ISO deals with the integration of APC-O with manufacturing operations management (MOM) and with automation and control of manufacturing process and equipment.

These standard interfaces are expected to enable the interoperability among manufacturing software tools (modules or systems). Sectors of the manufacturing industry such as automotive, aerospace, machine tool manufacturing, computer peripheral manufacturing, and mould and die manufacturing that intensively use computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), numerical control (NC) programming, computer-aided engineering (CAE), product data management (PDM) and manufacturing execution systems (MES) will directly benefit from ISO

This approach is based on the use of ISO application integration matrix element (AIME)/application domain matrix element (ADME) templates in conjunction with ISO manufacturing software unit (MSU) capability profiles. ISO/TR 18161:2013 also provides an example approach as applied to describing the interoperability requirements of the integrated smart pump application, which comprises the pump control application and the pump diagnostics application.

ISO describes application integration models and common application interoperability requirements. These application integration models are intended to: a) provide diagnostics, capability assessment, and maintenance applications integration reference architecture for manufacturing assets, such as equipment, automation devices, and software units; b) enable integration of diagnostics, capability assessment, and maintenance applications with other applications; c) provide for a system view context in dealing with asset management life cycles.

ISO 19439:2006 also serves as the basis for further standards for the development of models that will be computer- enactable and enable business process model-based decision support leading to model-based operation, monitoring and control. In ISO 19439:2006, four enterprise model views are defined in this framework. Additional views for particular user concerns can be generated but these additional views are not part of this International Standard. Possible additional views are identified in ISO

It does not specify how these core constructs for model-based operations are to be implemented and, in particular, it does not include the control language needed to specify and execute (internal) activity behaviour, nor the mapping between functional operations and capabilities.

52 Standards in the Area Standards published by ISO/TC 184/SC5(SAC/TC 159/SC5) Interoperability, integration, and architectures for enterprise systems and automation applications ISO Automation systems and integration -- Evaluating energy efficiency and other factors of manufacturing systems that influence the environment Scope: ISO specifies a method for evaluating the energy efficiency of a manufacturing system and other factors, e.g. energy consumption, waste and release, etc., that influence the environment. The evaluation method provides guidelines to analyse the usage of energy by the manufacturing system and the effects of the manufacturing system on the environment. ISO systematically evaluates the environmental influence through analysing the manufacturing activities and the manufacturing system. ISO is intended for discrete products/parts manufacturing systems, such as those used in forming,machining, painting, assembling, testing and other manufacturing processes in the production of aircraft,automobile, electric appliances, machine tools and their components, and other similar products.

It defines rules for the construction of device drivers and their behavior in the context t of an automation ti and/or measurement application. The main goal of ISO is to provide users with: independence from the computer operating system; independence d from the device connection technology (device interface/network); t independence from device suppliers; the ability to certify device drivers with connected devices and their behavior in the context of a given computer platform; independence from the technological device development in the future.
