3 A View of the Future of Our RN Workforce We will experience an escalating Nursing Workforce Shortage through 2025 This is a National Crisis Retirement will create the greatest number of vacancies
4 It is a Cliff
5 Contributing Factors Impacting the Nursing Shortage Nursing school traditional enrollment will not grow fast enough to meet the projected demand for RNs. A projected shortage of nursing school faculty has the potential to restrict nursing program enrollments. The average age of the RN is climbing. Changing demographics signal a need for more nurses to care for our aging population. Source: American Association of Colleges of Nursing 2010
