Since 1997, this booklet has been helping thousands of people pass on their unwanted but usable items to those in need. Listed inside are 120 community service organizations that use donated items to support their work. These organizations work on behalf of youth, seniors, the homeless, and others in Cuyahoga County. Toys, art supplies, clothing, books, school supplies, office equipment, sporting goods, tools, furniture and more can be donated. We hope that you will use this booklet before throwing away your usable stuff. Doing so will help others while reducing waste and conserving natural resources. This booklet is also available on our website as a searchable database. The database lists the most current information available for these non-profit organizations. To access the online Pass It On database, log on to g Printed on recycled paper which contains 30% post-consumer waste h If you would like your organization included in our next edition or would like to comment on this booklet, please contact the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District. 3 How To Use This Guide This guide has two parts: the and the Directory. Use the to quickly find the names of organizations that accept the things you wish to donate. Once you have identified those organizations, look them up in the Directory to read more about them and their donation procedures. We included donation procedures for each organization as a reference only. Always contact the organization directly to verify that they need your item(s) and to arrange your donation. Tips On Donating Usable Stuff When donating your unwanted items make sure they are clean and are in usable, working condition. You must call the organization you have selected before dropping off your items. s that have not been arranged or have been left after hours can become uncharitable donations if they are not needed or are unusable. While this guide lists 120 places to donate unwanted items in Cuyahoga County, it is not exhaustive. Other donation possibilities exist in your local school, church, theater company, nursing home and library. Be creative and think of who might benefit from your unwanted items. The information included in this guide was provided in response to our inquiries. Information may have been edited for consistency and space constraints. Mention in this guide does not constitute an endorsement by the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District. 4 Pass It On: A Resource-Full Guide To Donating Usable Stuff Table of Contents Introduction How to Use This Guide/ Tips on Donating Usable Stuff DONATION INDEX Appliances Arts & Crafts Supplies Baby Items Bicycles Boats Books & Magazines Building Materials Cameras & Photography Supplies CD s & Cassette Tapes Cell Phones Cleaning Supplies Clothing Computer Equipment DVD s & Videocassettes Eyeglasses Food Furniture Gardening Supplies Hearing Aids Household Goods Jewelry Medical Equipment & Supplies Musical Instruments Newspapers Office Equipment & Supplies Paint Pet Food & Supplies School Supplies Sporting Goods Toiletries Tools Toys & Games Vehicles ORGANIZATION DIRECTORY Tax Deduction Info Additional Publications Inside Back Cover A Publication of The Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District 5
