2 Section 1: Program Abstract The Honours Bachelor of (HBSW) is a profession-oriented honours bachelor s degree designed to advance specialized knowledge in the field of social work. The program prepares its graduates for professional social work practice with a particular emphasis on multicultural social work in and with Northern, rural, remote, Anishinaabe, and Franco-Ontarian communities. The program contributes to social service development and sustainability in Northern Ontario communities by preparing and retaining professional social workers. The HBSW program is accredited by the Canadian Association for Education (CASWE) and graduates are able to register as social workers with the Ontario College of ers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Graduates are well-prepared for entry into professional practice in the field of social work, a sector with a strong demand for qualified, baccalaureate-trained social workers, or for further study in the field of social work.
