1 Microsoft Exchange, Upgrade from Exchange 2000/2003 COURSE OVERVIEW This instructor-led course offers Microsoft Exchange Server administrators with the skills they need to manage a Microsoft Exchange infrastructure. The student will learn skills that enable them to deploy and manage an Exchange environment. This course's aim is not to provide detailed design skills, but will cover planning skills at a level sufficient to enable decision making during the implementation process. This course provides the knowledge and skills to manage messaging security and policies. Students will learn how to manage messaging and connection security. They will also learn how to manage spam, anti-virus, and content filtering. And finally they will learn how to install and configure a gateway server. This course teaches students to recover Exchange mailboxes and servers in a variety of disaster scenarios. Students will learn how to perform full and dial-tone recoveries of a mailbox server, as well as repair a mailbox database. They will also learn how to perform a full recovery of Client Access servers, Hub Transport servers, Unified Messaging servers, and Edge Transport servers. AUDIENCE This course is for people who operate in medium to very large computing environments with many supported users at multiple sites using Exchange Server. The audience should have experience administering configuring Exchange Server, configuring recipients and mailboxes, and supporting Exchange Server clients. Exchange Servers. Others who may take this course include IT generalists and help desk professionals who want to learn about Microsoft Exchange. Administrators should have some experience with Exchange Server These people will have experience installing and People beginning this course are expected to have at least three years experience working in the Information Technology field typically in the areas of network administration or Windows Server administration and one year of Exchange Server administration experience. OBJECTIVES After completing this course, students will be able to: Describe the new features and the deployment architecture in Exchange. Plan and implement an Exchange deployment. Administer Exchange. Implement client access services in Exchange. Manage message routing in an Exchange Server 2007 organization. Configure messaging security with Exchange. Implement messaging policies in Exchange. Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions in Exchange. Implement Unified Messaging in Exchange Server Manage anti-spam and antivirus features. Configure edge transport servers. Implement messaging policies. Recover messaging databases. Prepare for and recover from Mailbox server failures. Prepare for and recover from non-mailbox server failures. PREREQUISITES This course requires that students meet the following prerequisites: Working experience with Active Directory directory services in Windows Server 2003.

2 Microsoft Exchange, Upgrade from Exchange 2000/2003 Familiarity and experience with Windows scripting or command-line scripting. Working knowledge of malware. For example, approaches to scanning for viruses (client-based, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)-based, Exchange-based), methods that worms use to propagate, basic concepts of spam, phishing schemes, and unwelcome message content. Conceptual understanding of firewalls. For example, how SMTP messages are allowed through a firewall. Working knowledge of how Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is managed in the directory. Experience using these tools and applications: NTBackup command. NSLookup command. Windows Explorer MicrosoftManagement Console (MMC) Active Directory Users and Computers Active Directory Sites and Services Internet Information Services (IIS) Admin Outlook Working knowledge of Windows server operating system. For example, how storage is configured, basic backup and restore techniques, and what a client/server application interaction means. Working knowledge of network technologies. For example, what Transmission Control Protocol (TCP/IP) and Domain Name System (DNS) do and how to use them, basic routing concepts (Wide Area Networks (WAN) vs. Local Area Network (LAN) router vs. switch vs. hub). Working knowledge of Active Directory. For example, how user objects are managed, what is stored in Active Directory partitions, basic architectures (domain, forest, sites, etc.), and how domain controllers are managed. Also, site and site connector configuration, schema and configuration partitions, and Global Catalogs. Working knowledge of Exchange. For example, what the different server roles are, how the different server roles interact, what protocols the server roles use to communicate, what roles the clients connect to, how to configure messaging recipients and Exchange computers. Conceptual understanding of technologies. For example, that SMTP is a protocol used for e- mail and the differences between transport protocols and client access protocols (Post Office Protocol (POP), Internet Access Message Protocol (IMAP), and SMTP). COURSE OUTLINE Module 1: Introducing Exchange This module provides an overview of the new Exchange features, focusing on changes from previous Exchange Server versions. This module also introduces terminology and concepts that subsequent modules in this course will cover in greater detail. New Features in Exchange Introducing the Exchange Deployment Architecture Discontinued and De-Emphasized Features describe the following: New Exchange features. The Exchange deployment architecture. Features from previous Exchange versions that are discontinued or de-emphasized in Exchange. Module 2: Deploying Exchange The module describes the Exchange Server Roles, and the planning and implementation of an Exchange deployment. Additionally, this module describes how to upgrade an Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003 deployment to Exchange. Introduction to the Exchange Server Roles Installing Exchange Upgrading to Exchange

Module 3: Administering Exchange Administering Exchange is quite different from administering previous Exchange versions. Exchange provides new management tools and new tasks that you will need to perform. This module details how to administer Exchange Server Overview of Exchange Administration Tools Administering Exchange Mailbox Servers Managing Recipients in Exchange Lab: Administering Exchange Configuring the Mailbox Servers Configuring Recipients Performing Bulk Recipient Management Tasks Describe the new tools for administering Exchange. Administer Exchange mailbox servers. Manage recipients in Exchange. Module 4: Implementing Client Access Services in Exchange Exchange provides access to user mailboxes for many different clients. In some cases, the client configuration has not changed significantly from previous Exchange versions. However, Exchange does provide some significant new features and administrative tasks related to managing client access. This module describes how to provide access to Exchange mailboxes. Implementing the Client Access Server Role Implementing New Client Features in Exchange Implementing Outlook Web Access Implementing Mobile Messaging Lab: Implementing Client Access Services in Exchange Configuring Outlook Web Access Settings Configuring Exchange ActiveSync Policies Implement Exchange servers running the Client Access server role. Module 5: Managing Message Routing in an Exchange Organization Message flow through an Exchange organization is significantly different from previous Exchange versions. Rather than using routing groups, message routing in Exchange is based on the Active Directory directory services site configuration. This module describes how messages are routed through the organization, and describes and how to manage message routing. Securing Internet includes ensuring that the messaging system remains secure from spam and viruses, and securing messages sent across the Internet. This module details how to configure the Exchange features that increase Internet security. Implementing the Edge Transport Server Role Implementing Antivirus and Anti-Spam Features Configuring Security for Internet Lab: Securing Messages with Exchange Reviewing the Current Spam-Filtering Results Discussion: Modifying the Spam-Filtering Settings Modifying the Spam-Filtering Settings Implement the Edge Transport server role.
