2 appendix D non-profit cultural organizations by county The following is a list of non-profit cultural organizations by County, along with the city the organization is registered as being based through the IRS and the discipline code the organization uses when filing with the IRS. A complete list of National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities (NTEE) codes that were used to define the scope of non-profit cultural organization is included in appendix C. In 2007, the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) produced a report aimed at building a framework to define the Creative Economy in a way that could standardize local, regional and national studies. The Creative Economy: A New Definition, cleared the confusion created through inconsistent reports to create a core set of codes in standardized data sources that could be used to identify cultural organizations. To create a comprehensive list of non-profit cultural organizations in Georgia, the same core group of creative economy related National Taxonomy of Exempt Entity (NTEE) codes have been used. Only recently have organizations with budgets below a certain threshold been required to submit IRS 990 tax returns. Due to their lack of inclusion in national data, they have been added to the following lists of organizations manually whenever possible to create an accurate number of registered organizations in each county. Additional data on the physical location of organizations has been collected, and may be accessed by request from the Atlanta Regional Commission.
