My own parents were immigrants, and, as you ll read below, nearly everyone in America is a new immigrant or a descendent of immigrants, so your participation in America follows our best and most cherished tradition of advancement. Without you, we would be a little less the America we could be. So welcome to your new home and to the resources presented in this booklet. 44% of the residents of North Texas are New Americans (foreign-born and their children) and in 32% of our homes a language other than English is spoken. Recognizing that fluency in English increases an individuals opportunities for economic success while offering fuller participation in all areas in American life, DFW International Community Alliance has prepared this guide for you.
