ISO Standards comparison Contactless card standards cover a variety of types as embodied in ISO (Vicinity Cards) and ISO (Proximity Cards). ISO Vicinity Technology» Read/write» Read range up to 3 feet, typically 8 inches.» Up to 26.6 Kb/sec data transfer» Ideal for facility and parking access control» Contactless only» Suppliers: Philips ISO Hi-tag tag,, EM Microelectronics, Inside, ST Microelectronics, Omnitec,, Omron ISO14443 Proximity Technology» Read/write» Read range up to 4 inches, typically 1 inch» Up to 106 Kb/sec data transfer» Ideal for electronic ticketing and cash applications» Approved financial standard by EMV (ISO type B)» Approved contactless smartcard for GSA (ISO Type A & B)» Supports contact interface» Suppliers: Sony, Philips, Inside, Panasonic, Hitachi, Atmel,, OTI, Infineon
ISO standards» ISO is one of a series of international standards describing the parameters for identification cards and the use of such cards for international exchange.» ISO Part 1 Physical Characteristics: Specifies the size and shape of cards to that of an ID-1 1 form factor. In addition to defining physical dimensions, this s part of the standard defines the type and severity of environmental conditions ns the card must be capable of enduring.» ISO Part 2 Air Interface and Initialization: Defines the standards that specify the radio frequency (RF) communication scheme. Deals with RF wave issues such as modulation, carrier frequencies, field strengths, data rates, and d data coding. -Analogy: Establishes a common alphabet» ISO Part 3 Anti-collision and Transmission Protocol: Defines a common anti- collision procedure (necessary to identify multiple tags in a single field) and defines a common command set. -Analogy: Builds a common language with our previously established d common alphabet» TI Vicinity badges are compliant with ISO parts 1, 2, and 3 while the competition, HID iclass,, is compliant with ISO parts 1 and 2, and ISO B2.
ISO14443 standards» Defines a way to provide power and communicate between a reader and a contactless smart card» The standard includes two versions with different modulation approaches: Type A and Type B» Suppliers of A: ASK, Infineon,, Philips, Samsung» Suppliers of B: TI, ASK, Infineon,, Samsung, Atmel,, Fujitsu, OTI, STMicro,, Toshiba» Differences between A&B include the modulation of the magnetic field used for coupling, the coding format and the anti-collision method» Type A&B had slightly different application focus back when developed in 1994, but technology advances have removed this application differentiation
Features:» Standard Wiegand Output + RS485» Open Standard with ISO15693 Vicinity Credentials» Compatible with ISO14443A (Mifare( Mifare ) 13.56MHz Vicinity Readers» Simultaneous Multi-card Reading» Read/Write capability» FCC,CE, MPT and UL294 certification» S6420 Mullion Reader 1.7 x 5.0 x 1.0 Read Range 3-5 Colors: Black & Gray Fully potted, IP 64 protection» S6410 Wall Plate 5.0 x 5.0 x 1.0 Read Range 6-8 on nonmetal. Colors: Black & Gray Fully Potted IP64 protection
Long Range Reader The Long Range Gate Reader is the only gate reader designed for Access Control. Encased in a steel enclosure, the gate reader er is weatherproof and can withstand harsh environments. Several antennas nas can be connected to the reader depending on application requirements. ents. Typical read distances of up to 3 feet using dual antennas and the t TI vicinity card. RF-HFR-AQL3-00 Reader Only RR-IDISC-ANT8-6-A Antenna Only (800mmx 600mm)
