Win production in th world occurs in many typs of climats. Th Goviticultur Multicritria Climatic Classification (MCC) Systm was dvlopd to improv th charactrization of viticultural climat in th win producing rgions of th world. Th MCC Systm was dscribd by TONIETTO (1999; 2007) and by TONIETTTO & CARBONNEAU (2004), and th mthodology was usd to gnrat a databas of worldwid viticultural climats. Howvr, data is of no valu if it is not put to us. Thrfor, in th intrst of sharing information, an Intrnt wbsit was cratd by Embrapa (EMBRAPA UVA E VINHO, 2007) to publish th MCC Systm and mak th rsulting viticultural climat databas availabl for th intrnational scintific community. Its intntion is to mak th data availabl for whichvr purpos usrs may nd it. Th sit may b accssd at th addrss This papr dscribs th wbsit, its us and plans for futur dvlopmnts. Matrial and Mthods Th sit brifly dscribs th Goviticultur MCC Systm, providing onlin accss to a databas of climatic indxs in win producing rgions of th world. Th sit was writtn in HTML and PHP, and th data is stord in a MySQL databas. Th wb srvr uss Apach running on a Dbian Linux Platform. Th wb sit is currntly availabl in Portugus, Frnch and English. Th main pag of th sit dscribs th MCC Systm and its objctivs and provids links to th othr pags. It also lists th institutions which currntly participat in th MCC Systm and provids information on how othr institutions may contribut to th databas. Th Mthodology pag dscribs th thr climatic indxs (Hliothrmal Indx - HI, Cold Night Indx - CI, and Drynss Indx - DI) and how thy ar calculatd. It also lists th six classs of HI (ranging from -3 to +3) and thir

Th Databas pag allows th usr to sarch th databas of worldwid viticultural climatic indxs. Databas sarch critria allow displayd rsults to includ all countris or b limitd to on spcific country. Th sarch may also b limitd or not to on of th six classs of HI, on of th four classs of CI or DI, or any combination of ths sarch critria. Rsults ar displayd in alphabtical ordr and includ country, viticultural rgion, mtorological station with latitud, longitud, altitud, HI valu, CI valu, DI valu, HI class, CI class and DI class. Also includd ar th tim priod (yars) usd in dtrmining th thr indxs, during which climatic data was collctd in ach plac, as wll as a rfrnc to th sourc from which th data was obtaind. In tropical rgions, th sasons ar not dfind as rigidly as in a tmprat climat, and graps may b harvstd throughout th yar. In ths placs, th climatic indxs vary according to th tim of harvst and a sparat indx was calculatd for ach month of potntial harvst. Th databas ntris rlativ to tropical placs includ ths monthly indxs. In ordr to mak it asir to visually idntify locations with similar viticultural climat according to th MCC Systm, an orthogonal color classification schm within th RGB color spac was usd for th thr indxs. HI varis along th rd-cyan axis, with rd as th highst hliothrmal (abov 3000) and cyan as th lowst (blow 1500), with a whit midpoint at CI varis along th blu-yllow axis, with yllow as th warmst nights (abov 18 C) and blu as th coldst (blow 12 C), with a whit midpoint at 14 C. DI varis along th grn-magnta axis, with grn as th most humid (abov +150 mm) and magnta as th drist (blow -100 mm), with a whit midpoint at +50 mm. Th onlin Calculations pag allows th usr to calculat HI, CI and DI basd on monthly climatic information supplid by th usr about a viticultural rgion (man, minimum and maximum tmpraturs, prcipitation and potntial vapotranspiration). It also dtrmins th classs in which ach of th thr calculatd indxs fall in, sarchs th databas for locations with a similar viticultural climat and displays th list of ths locations to th usr.

3 Rsults and Discussion Th viticultural climat databas includs, up to this dat, ovr 20 countris and continus to grow. An xampl of databas sarch rsults is shown in Figur 1, in which Brazil was slctd as a sarch critria. This xampl shows twlv ntris for Ptrolina (in th viticultural rgion of th São Francisco Vally), which is locatd in a tropical rgion, and has a viticultural climat with intra-annual variability, with a larg variability in DI, charactrizing a dry sason and a wt sason during th yar. Also shown is th most important win producing rgion of Brazil (Srra Gaúcha / Bnto Gonçalvs). Th complt databas of brazilian viticultural rgions is bing workd on and will b soon includd in th databas. Th databas may b usd to compar th climats of diffrnt locations, as wll as to find locations with similar climats throughout th world. An xampl of onlin viticultural climat indx calculations (HI, CI and DI) is shown in Figur 2, which dmonstrats how on may us th wbsit to dtrmin th class of viticultural climat in th location of his vinyards. Usr input is dividd into thr catgoris. In th Idntification sction ar th nams of th viticultural rgion, wathr station and country. Th Gographic coordinats includ latitud, longitud, altitud and th list of yars which compos th tim sris of climatic data usd (should b at last 10 yars; prfrably 30). Th most significant sction for th calculations is Monthly climatic data, in which valus should b ntrd for ach of th months of April through Sptmbr (in th Northrn Hmisphr) or Octobr through March (in th Southrn Hmisphr). Ths data includ th monthly avrag of th daily minimum tmpraturs (only for th last month), th monthly avrags of th daily maximum and man tmpraturs, and monthly total prcipitation and vapotranspiration. Th rsults show a hypothtical location in th middl of th Atlantic Ocan with HI=2000 (class HI- 1), CI=13 C (class CI+1) and DI=132mm (class DI-1), which is a viticultural climat similar to th Frnch rgions of Agn, Bordaux and Cognac. As global warming is bcoming a rality, it is important to b abl to prdict its consquncs in win production. Th MCC Systm may b usd to simulat th ffcts of climat changs in viticultural climat indxs. Th databas may thn b sarchd in ordr to find which locations in th world hav a climat similar to th xpctd futur conditions, which may giv hints about th changs that may b xpctd in viticultural potntial rlatd with win charactristics. Futur dvlopmnts of th wbsit includ th possibility of storing climatic data for ach spcific harvst and to valuat th rang of th viticultural climat in a spcific location. This also maks it possibl to compar climatic conditions of on harvst with anothr in th sam location and to bttr charactriz vintag wins. This may also b usd to compar th climat of on yar in on location with th climat of anothr yar in a diffrnt location. Th volution of th indxs along th diffrnt months of th vgtativ cycl may also b includd in th futur. This information will prmit an analysis of th volution of th viticultural climat and improv th possibilitis of comparing viticultural climats of diffrnt rgions.

A CYTEd coopration projct of with 10 Ibro-Amrican countris will incras th databas, in th nar futur, in mor than 150 nw rgions (SOTÉS and TONIETTO, 2004). It is our intntion to translat th wb sit into othr languags, with Spanish bing th nxt targt.
