Anaheim University is not a public institution. Once this document is sined by the student and approved by Anaheim University, it leally obliates both Anaheim University and the student. Any questions or problems concernin this school which have not been satisfactorily answered or resolved by the school should be directed to the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, Sacramento, California a Proram Description : MA in TESOL Title of Proram: Master of Arts deree proram in Teachin Enlish to Speakers of Other Lanuaes (MA in TESOL) Description of Proram: Procedurally, the material reflects the experiential, task-based philosophy bein advocated for the teachin of forein lanuaes. The proram offers principled links between theory, research and practice in lanuae teachin and learnin throuh modules with a solid pedaoical foundation, namely, Second Lanuae Teachin and Learnin, Classroom Manaement and Observation, and Second Lanuae Classroom Research. Extensive knowlede of lanuae and learnin is ained throuh Grammar, Phonoloy, and Discourse Analysis courses, and specialized skills and knowlede are developed throuh the professional modules: Curriculum Development, Second Lanuae Acquisition, Research Methods, and Classroom-Based Evaluation. Finally, the research portfolio ives students the opportunity to carry out and present their own detailed empirical research. Total number of required units: 44 units Method of Instruction: Online-learnin: readin of textbooks and submission of assinments, weekly online correspondence (one 90-minute real time online class per week and daily interaction throuh an online discussion forum) with professor and students. Residential sessions: two four-day seminars must be attended prior to completion of MA proram to be either in California or in another selected location. Scheduled Completion Date: Within 2.5 years from commencement of proram. Maximum time allotted to complete proram - 3 years from date of matriculation. The proram offers principled links between theory, research and practice in lanuae teachin and learnin. Students select six courses from a choice of 10, which include Second Lanuae Teachin and Learnin, Classroom Manaement and Observation, Second Lanuae Classroom Research. Grammar, Phonoloy, and Discourse Analysis courses, and Curriculum Development, Second Lanuae Acquisition, Research Methods, and Classroom-Based Evaluation. It offers a practical introduction to lanuae teachin and links practice to theory and research. The proram offers students the opportunity of developin a solid pedaoical foundation throuh instruction in the followin areas: lanuae teachin methodoloy, listenin, speakin, readin, writin, pronunciation, vocabulary, rammar, discourse, content-based instruction, usin coursebooks, computer assisted lanuae learnin, learnin styles and strateies, learner autonomy in the classroom, classroom-based assessment and cross-cultural communication. Completion of the 15-week course. Total number of units: No credit Method of Instruction: Online-learnin: readin of textbooks, submission of assinments, online interaction (daily online discussion forums), weekly video presentations. Each course is the equivalent of 135 hours of study over a 15-week period. Start Date: New courses bein on the first Monday of each month. It offers a practical introduction to Enlish Lanuae Teachin for children and links practice to theory and research. The proram offers students the opportunity of developin a solid pedaoical foundation towards teachin Enlish to children throuh instruction in the followin areas: Who is the youn learner?, First and Second Lanuae Acquisition, Methods and Approaches in Lanuae Teachin, Teachin Listenin, Teachin Speakin, Teachin Readin, Teachin Writin, Teachin Vocabulary,Teachin Grammar, Teachin Pronunciation, Learnin Styles and Strateies, The Affective Domain, Workin with Parents, Classroom Manaement, Resources and Technoloy Support for Lanuae Learnin, and Assessment and Evaluation Completion of the 15-week course. Even if the student cancels this contract as permitted by law, the student may not receive a refund of the application fee and $100 reistration fee, unless cancellation is made within the 5-day Cancellation Period. 5 Student s Riht to Cancel and Receive a Refund. BUYER S RIGHT TO CANCEL. The student has the riht to cancel this areement in any manner, within 5 days (the Cancellation Period) from the date the student sins the enrollment areement and obtain a full refund of all monies paid. Students cancelin after the Cancellation Period will receive a refund of all amounts paid less the nonrefundable application fee of $75 (MA/Graduate Diploma in TESOL) or $50 (TESOL Certificate and Certificate in Teachin Enlish to Youn Learners) and non-refundable reistration fee of $100. The student may cancel this areement and obtain a refund by ivin notice to the Anaheim University Reistrar at the address on the top of the first pae of this areement. The written notice of cancellation, if sent by mail, is effective when it is deposited in the mail properly addressed with postae prepaid. The student should keep a record of the date, time and place of mailin any notice of cancellation. 6 Student s Riht to Withdraw and Receive a Refund. Unless the student has completed more than five weeks of a course of instruction in the MA in TESOL or Graduate Diploma in TESOL or more than 50 percent of the TESOL Certificate or Certificate in Teachin Enlish to Youn Learners proram, the student has the riht to withdraw and receive a refund of the unused portion of tuition and other chares. If the student withdraws from the proram after the expiration of the time for cancelin this areement, the student is obliated to pay only for educational services rendered, plus a non-refundable application fee of $75 (MA/Graduate Diploma in TESOL) or $50 (TESOL Certificate and Certificate in Teachin Enlish to Youn Learners) and non-refundable reistration fee of $100. For an explanation of the student s riht to withdraw and receive a refund, includin the kinds of expenses included in the refund, the student should read the explanation entitled Explanation of Course Withdrawal and Refund Rihts which is attached to and included as a part of this areement. 7 Student Tuition Recovery Fund. If the student is not a resident of California or is the recipient of third-party payment of tuition and course costs, such as workforce investment vouchers or rehabilitation fundin, the student is not eliible for protection under and recovery from the Student Tuition Recovery Fund. Students are responsible for payin the state assessment amount of the Student Tuition Recovery Fund. Obliations of Student and School. The student will meet all financial obliations as required in this areement, subject to the student s riht to cancel (pararaph 5) and withdraw from the course (pararaph 6). The student will demonstrate reasonable proress toward completion of their proram. The school respects student s rihts and privacy and will furnish all of the services listed in the catalo and required of this areement. The school maintains a website where research materials and library resources can be accessed. The school will maintain student records and, upon raduation, will supply an official transcript. 9 Student Interity and Academic Honesty. Students are expected to conduct themselves with the hihest ethical and academic standards and to commit no acts of cheatin, plaiarism, or falsification of records. Cheatin is an act of obtainin or attemptin to obtain credit for work by the use of dishonest, deceptive or fraudulent means; plaiarism is the act of takin ideas, words, or specific substance of another and offerin them as one s own; falsification of records is a misrepresentation of statements in submitted records. 10 Admissions Practices. The applicant has been informed that he/she has been accepted into the proram and that official transcripts or required documentation must be received by the institution within one enrollment period not to exceed 12 semester credits, or the student will not be accepted into the proram. 2

The University has been awarded Institutional Approval. Approval or approval to operate means that the council has determined and certified that an institution meets minimum standards established by the council for interity, financial stability, and educational quality, includin the offerin of bona fide instruction by qualified faculty and the appropriate assessment of students achievement prior to, durin, and at the end of the proram. Notice Concernin Transferability of Units and Derees Earned at our University Anaheim University is accredited by the Accreditin Commission of the Distance Education and Trainin Council (DETC). The DETC is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally-reconized accreditin aency. Anaheim University and its prorams have been examined and found to meet the educational and business ethics standards set by the DETC Accreditin Commission. The Accreditin Commission of the DETC is reconized by the Council for Hiher Education Accreditation (CHEA). In eneral, qualifications from accredited universities are widely reconized; however, prospective students are advised to check with their respective school districts, state, professional oranizations and overnment aencies when licensin and/or credentials are the eventual objective of the prospective student. It is entirely up to the discretion of the collee, university or institution for which a student is seekin admission, to decide on the acceptance of the said student into a iven deree proram and the transferability of units and derees to other institutions is not uaranteed. It is recommended that if transfer of credit or deree is the eventual oal of the prospective student, that the student contact all institutions in which the student is potentially interested in seekin enrollment. 5 MA TESOL and Graduate Diploma in TESOL Published Lenth of Course Refundable Tuition Due Student AFTER weeks 1st week = 0% 2nd week = 60% 3rd week = 40% 4th week = 20% 5th week = 0% Students withdrawin DURING first week will receive 100% of refundable tuition. The amount of courses completed shall be the ratio of completed weeks to the total weeks required to complete the course. Students withdrawin from the Residential portion of the TESOL proram are entitled to a refund of the Residential session as follows: a) Up to and includin completion of the first 10% of resident trainin, 90% of the session fee. b) After completion of more than 10% and up to 25% of resident trainin, 75% of the session fee. c) After completion of more than 25% and up to 50% of resident trainin, 50% of the session fee. d) If the student completes more than half of the resident trainin, the University is entitled to the full tuition. The amount of residential session completed shall be the ratio of completed days to the total days required to complete the course. For Example: A student pays $1700 tuition for a 9 week course. Upon withdrawal durin the first week: The refund amount would be $1700. Upon withdrawal after the first week: The refund amount would be $1360 ($1700 less $340). Upon withdrawal after the second week: The refund amount would be $1020 ($1700 less $60). Upon withdrawal after the third week: The refund amount would be $60 ($1700 less $1020). Upon withdrawal after the fourth week: The refund amount would be $340 ($1700 less $1360). Upon withdrawal after the fifth week, the institution shall be entitled to retain the entire total course tuition. TESOL Certificate and TEYL Certificate After the 5-day coolin off period, where the student cancels after completin at least one lesson assinment but less than 50 percent of course assinments, the institution may retain the non-refundable reistration fee plus a percentae of tuition detailed below. The amount of the course completed shall be the ratio of completed required lesson assinments received by Anaheim University for evaluation to the total lesson assinments required to complete the course. Students who withdraw havin completed: Up to and includin 10 percent of the course: Between 10 percent and 25 percent of the course: Between 25 percent and 50 percent of the course: More than 50 percent of the course: Will Receive: 90% of the tuition 75% of the tuition 50% of the tuition 0% of the tuition For Example: A student pays $450 tuition for a 15-week course Upon withdrawal up to and includin 10 percent of the course: Upon withdrawal between 10 percent and 25 percent of the course: Upon withdrawal between 25 percent and 50 percent of the course: The refund amount would be $270 ($300 less $30) The refund amount would be $225 ($300 less $75) The refund amount would be $150 ($300 less $150) After the student completes more than half the course, the institution shall be entitled to retain the entire total course tuition. When the student has withdrawn For the purpose of determinin the student s obliation for the time attended, the student will be considered to have withdrawn from the proram when any of the followin occurs: - When the student notifies the school of the withdrawal or the actual date of withdrawal, whichever is later. - When the school terminates the student s enrollment. - When the student fails to attend classes for a three-week period or fails to submit three consecutive lessons. In this case, the date of withdrawal will be deemed to be the last date of attendance. If any portion of the student s tuition was paid from the proceeds of a loan, the refund will be sent to the lender or to the aency that uaranteed the loan, if any. Any remainin amount of the refund will first be used to repay any student financial aid prorams from which the student received benefits, in proportion to the amount of the benefits received. Any remainin amount will then be paid to the student. If there is a balance due, the student will be responsible. in proportion to the amount of the benefits received.
