1 Internship Activity 3.01a Frequency Count Observation Collaborate with the cooperating teacher to find a purpose for collecting data for a frequency count observation. What behavior will be counted? Step 1: The Observation SETTING Record the following setting details: Date Time Early Childhood Education program Grade level/age of children Teacher name Purpose of observation: Summary of what the class is doing while you are present: Step 2: Record the specific purpose for collecting data for the frequency count behavior. (examplescounting positive teacher behaviors, observing a child for whining, hitting, off-task behavior, etc.) Step 3: Tally marks and notes Each time you see the behavior identified in step 2, place a tally mark in the space provided. Then write what you observed under the notes section. Step 4: Interpretation The purpose of interpretation is to find meaning in the data collected.
