12 New Features in OpenStack Essex Release Two new core projects successfully promoted from incubation: Dashboard: pluggable and extensible self-service portal for users and administrators Identity: common authentication system that provides authorization for multiple log-in credentials, including username/password, token-based and AWS-style logins Improved automation and integration across all core projects. Increased stability and reliability with more extensive testing/qa built into release cycle. Essex included in Ubuntu LTS release, future OpenStack versions will also be supported in providing upgrade path. Support for high-performance computing and additional block storage options, including Nexenta, SolidFire, and NetApp storage solutions. Improved compliance and data security with the ability to expire objects according to document retention policies, more protections against corruption and degradation of data, and sophisticated disaster recovery improvements.
